Of course not. If there’s one place I can’t stand the though of Reyes going, it’s the Bronx. If he has to go somewhere, the Giants wouldn’t be so bad.

I have no idea why this is even being discussed. Unless the Yanks plan on playing with 5 infielders, then they have no use for Reyes. Jeter isn’t going anywhere, Cano isn’t going anywhere, ARod isn’t going anywhere, and Reyes isn’t going to move to the OF. Reyes to the Yanks is just an absurd idea. More likely 2012 will see Reyes playing in Boston or Philly.

BULLSHIT! Who says Cashman will even be there to make the decisions during the offseason? Just because Cashman says he won’t persue someone doesn’t mean the Steinbrenners won’t. Have some of you seem to forget how Cashman wasn’t interested in Rafael Soriano and then what happened? Soriano becomes a Yankee. Don’t breathe easy just because Cashman says so.

There is no way Cashman comes out a winner if he trades for Reyes.

He could trade away Mop lint to get Reyes and he still would be reviled by half the Yankee fans for replacing the declining Jeter! (He’s practically there now after those unfriendly negotiations during Jeters new deal.)

Reyes is a deal that might have happened when George was around and in his prime BOSS mode but the Yankees do not really make deals like that much anymore.

What they do want is Pitching.

If it comes down to trading Beltran, and the yanks make the best offer, ship him over. You have to do what is best for the future of your own team.

and he would not be traded to the Phils. The Mets can’t control it though if he wants to sign with them as a FA.

someone pointed out that there are also plenty of other teams that could be options without the yanks.

What will be funny though is if he signs with NYY of Phila, watching all their fans back peddle from all the nasty comments they made about Reyes over the years! Philly especially (though they have a much bigger hotdog in Victorino).

Maniac how do you know this to be true?

I’m not in favor of doing that at all but if it were to significantly help us down the road would you be totally against it?

You do realize that a HUGE part of the reason we made the playoffs the last 3 times (1999, 2000 and 2006) were due to Florida providing us with 3 of the best players in all of MLB and another one of our starting players as well.

While we shouldn’t aspire to be the Florida Marlins we certainly have acted as a small market team in the way we have drafted and what we have done internationally over the last 13 years.

But again can you share your information about Alderson NOT having any reservations about inter division trading or helping rival organizations?

I am breathing alittle easier, but at the same time i have to think down the road. If Jeter gets hurt (since he is getting older) and is out for an extended period of time, Cashman could very well eat his words and go after Jose.

Alderson doesn’t believe in NOT trading in the division or NOT helping a rival team. If the Yankees or Phillies offers them something he likes, he will make the deal without any thought of how it effects the fan base.

That’s all he can say right now. Doesn’t mean he’d like him doesn’t mean he wouldn’t.

I’m concerned about Boston deciding maybe Iglesias and Oscar Tejada aren’t going to develop the way they were hoping. Neither is doing very much with the bat in AAA and AA respectfully. Another team that could be interested is Atlanta. Gonzalez is 34, his OB is less than .300 and he’s not going to last forever.

SF and the LAA, Seattle, Philly. That’s at least 6 teams with very good reasons to pursue Reyes without having the NYY in the mix.
