This team is much more professional than the team of the past few years. Yes, they are short on talent, but I like all these singles and doubles. I was posting here earlier this year, wondering why they never strung three or four straight hits together and they seem to have solved that problem. You have to give Collins credit. They are a more prepared team. They are taking a sounder approach. Reyes is hitting the ball to left and left center like he never has, and laying off the junk for the most part. and laying off the junk for the most part. Turner has a ridiculous number of RBIs for his time here, and he does it with very few extra base hits. Even Tejada looks like a professional hitter. I know some of these guys will come back to earth. The question is: where will they settle? But for now, I am impressed. If only the BP had been mediocre instead of egregious for that recent stretch......

Capuano pitched really well today! I enjoyed watching him pitch!

If Jose Reyes continues to play the way he is over the next month, i think that we can discuss him as a possible NL MVP. I just think that he has florished to the kind of player that we were hoping he would eventually be.

Cappy does it again. Will we even need Johan Santana when he comes back? Starters have been lights-out lately.

Mets' bats erupt in the last 3 innings for the big win. Read all about it at Midwestern Met: tiny.cc/h8uey

I watch a lot of Pirates games, and I will say these are no longer the same old same old Pirates. They are a decent young team. Their offense has been struggling lately though. Correia is a having a decent season so far. That said Cappy just looked OUTSTANDING. He pitched on heck of a game today. Reyes has been incredible so far, with yet another multi-hit game today. Of note though, is some production by two guys who we've pretty much written off. Harris with a pinch hit single in the 8th, and Hairston with a pinch hit homer in the ninth. All around great team effort today. Lets just keep taking it one day at a time.

Regarding Capuano- he looks to be a very good pickup by Alderson. His overall numbers aren't great, but I think they may be skewed a bit by a couple of bad, bad outings. Overall, he has been as good as you could ask for from a #4 starter. I wonder if Sandy will parlay that type of performance into a trade prior to July 31st? Many contenders would give up a decent prospect (not an A or B+, but maybe a B- or C+) to get an inexpensive, yet productive veteran LH starting pitcher. IMO it will depend on where the Mets are in the standings a week or so prior to the deadline. If we're within 4 or 5 games he may not want to deal Cap, but if we're further out I can see him getting a bidding war started for his services since there are no front line SP available via trade this year.

As for my man, Jose Reyes, wow! What a year he's having! Just awesome. It's a crying shame he isn't leading the vote for NL SS in the All Star game. All I can figure is that so many Mets fans are disgusted with the way the Wilpons have run this team that they're staying away from the ballot box as well. It's a shame. Personally, I'm using multiple e-mail accts. daily to maximum usage to try and get Jose elected. I hope many others are doing the same.

Nice game!

Jose Reyes is hitting .346! Just awesome. For a guy that was a career .286 hitter entering the season Reyes is just RAKING! He is having a career year and while I am no longer a big fan of the ASG that Reyes somehow is not the leading vote getter to be the starting SS at the ASG has me somewhat surprised. What more can he possibly do?

Capuano looked good today (insert "yea but it was vs the Pirates" here) on the mound.

Capuano has now started 12 games for the Mets and has pitched at least 5 innings in every start and at least 6 innings in 8 of his 12 starts. He has given up 2 earned runs or less in 7 of his 12 starts overall this season and in 6 of his last 8 starts has given up 2 earned runs or less.

All things considered while not what I would describe as great regarding Cap it also is not that bad as well.
