You’re coming up with stats to fit your theory. So when you say Wright failed in September, I show you Reyes failed much more… you come back with a different attempt.

You say Wright only had success in september in blow outs, I show you wright far exceeded reyes in close games in september of 2007.

Face it. You don’t like David Wright and the reason you claim is because he chokes, but yet you NEVER get on Reyes for his choke job of September 2007 and 2008.

Why don’t you hold both players to the same set of standards? I frankly do not care if Wright is or isn’t clutch. But I’m not the one on here responding to every Jose Reyes comment claiming he’s better for the franchise than Wright because Wright chokes.

Being clutch is performing when your team needs you the most. The NY Mets needed Jose Reyes and David Wright THE MOST in September of 2007 and September of 2008. And only 1 of them failed.

Yet in REALITY. The Mets biggest fail was in September of 2007, and David Wright’s performance in CLOSE games in September FAR and I mean FAR exceeded the play of Jose Reyes in those same games.

So if you’re going to come here and talk about how all Wright does is choke, then I’d like you to show me where Jose didn’t choke when the Mets needed him most? Please show me where in 2007 and 2008 down the stretch where Jose Reyes choked less than David Wright?

If you can’t, then please move from this ridiculous argument because all you’re doing is basing it on opinion without looking at the facts.

In 2007, the NY Mets suffered the most epic collapse in franchise history. Agreed? Of course.

During the month of September, the Mets played 15 games decided by 3 runs or less. The Mets played 28 games in September. So like your 5th grade math teacher taught you 15 is over half of 28.

Okay.

So during those games, Mr. David Wright who is a stat padder and only performed in September when the games were blow outs.

Hit .345 with 4 HR and 10 RBI

Jose Reyes whom no Met fan dislikes, but only 1 comes on here and praises him while in the same breath mentions how Wright chokes…

Hit .206 with 2 HR and 7 RBI

And oh by the way… the Mets won 7 of those 15 games. So why is it that Wright is a choker but Jose who absolutely FAILED in September of 2007 when you and I needed him the most gets a free pass?

Yeah he sucked and made so many excuses while being the ONLY starter on a team of guys that were all AA and single A players, if you even watched one game that year you’d know that guys filling were even on the DL.

If you don’t want excuses, tell me why didn’t Omar help out and get better players in 09? BECAUSE NO SPORTS TEAM WOULD HAVE OVERCOME THAT MANY INJURIES

again, in 2007 i had wright as the MVP had the mets made the playoffs, i don’t hate the man, he’s a good complimentary player on a team with a superstar hitter, kinda like matt holliday, i revoke around 2007 and 2008.. i actually WENT TO GAMES in septemeber, against the nats, what does he do.. goes 2-5. pretty good huh, hit for 2 GIDP, mets lose 13-4, then 10-9 then 9-6 against the nats, he hit for 4 GIDP in the series, but has 5 hits in those 3 games.. stat padder

David is ALWAYS slow to start, gets hot in June and then stays about his average during August with a cooling off in September (but not enough to bring ddown his seasonal numbers.)

Wright has never had a season like Reyes where the entire first half was all positive. Most HR hitters will NEVER do that because they are HR hitters not contact guys.

Wright isn’t a choker he just isn’t a savior either. He does what he does and if the team around him does well he gets his stats. If the team around him sucks he is not good enough to carry them.
And there is no reason why he SHOULD carry them!
Unfair to even ask such a performance from him or ANY player!

And that said Wright is the one who carried us last June last year and put us back into the Division race.

He is not the choke artist you claim him to be but he is also not the savior you want him to be.

He is a solid but streaky hitter who at the end of the season will have the numbers he always has at the end of the year and that is what is most important!

If you want to be fair to a player you can’t judge him on cherry picked streaks of good and bad just as it would be dumb for the teacher to fail you on a test of math and spelling because in one 5 question section you got them all wrong but got a 90 on the rest of the test.

it’s about the season you have not the month or the week or the at bat in a critical game.
It is a competition and there is a side working to stop Wright from doing all the things you and I would like him to do.
To ask him to do more than he is capable of with the bat is as unfair as asking him to do more with the leadership which I have explained is ALSO beyond his means.

People who love David Wright love him for one simple reason.
He is the one guy who has been there consistently and been a soldifying presence on the roster.
He does have the issue of wanting to be a HR hitter like Fielder or Howard but that is not what he is.

And in the end if this team has any chance of making a playoff it is going to be because david Wright is here, Contributing and getting the numbers he usually has when the season concludes!

David is now hurt for the first time since his beaning and he is missing the month where he gets most of his numbers every year.

You should be supporting Wright instead of slamming him because as well as Reyes is carrying us and helping us to football scores just imagine what the score could be if David Wright comes back and just hits for average!

What a game. After the 2nd Grand Slam I got scared the Apocalypse was coming.
Nice to have a blowout game for a change and Dear God what can be said about Reyes that hasn’t been said yet?

of course i want him and bay and everyone to succeed, but is OBVIOUS he doesn’t when we needed him the most. when he didn’t have the players around him he and his worshippers used all kinds of excuses for the teams failure, yet beltran and reyes are carrying tthe team with probably less talent around them.. wright is a stat padder imo because once he had reyes, delgado and beltran tking all the flame, he quietly went and put up his numbers, gave good cliches, but when it was time to step up and be the man, he folded llike a cheap suit!!! man on 3rd, no outs, bottom of the 9th: strikeout.. he made a great 3-2 pitch, on a ball 6 feet off the plate.. the choker was born. also, the fact he hit 243 with RIPS ALL YEAR in 2008 didn’t help his cause..

Omar also said he never even saw Cliff Lee as a minor leaguer which pretty much summed up his entire view of the minor leagues to me.
