Riggleman had an OPTION. Meaning he was not guaranteed another year. The Nats were going to use this year to judge where they were. Riggleman had a contract and he basically broke it. He quit.

he resigned, yes he signed the contract but wanted an extension, employers don’t give a crap about you, so why should you care about them, is call negotiating, he had the leverage right now as the nationals are playing well, 1 game over 500, if they tank ( which im sure they will soon) then he can say, see, i told you so, why you think the nats gm was furios!??
also, ike davis is SOFT!!!

Soft? It isn’t a sore calf. he has a bone bruise (which is serious, and debilitating) and cartlidge damage in his ankle. Somewhat of an important joint for an athlete!

and riggleman quit. He signed the contract, those were the terms, so fulfill them. It was a year end option. the “manly” thing to do is finish the year, try to win, and if they don’t want to retain him say thanks for the opportunity and walk away proud.

Our one and only walk-off win this season came on a hit by pitch, lol. I’m happy for the win but isn’t it strange we dont have a walk-off hit yet almost half way thru the season?

certain things to point out (i like you column)are:
1) k rod blows back to back games for first time all season.. i think that collins has over use him a bit imo, sometimes is good to have your closer to close out games, but when winning by 4 runs, there’s no point on bringing him in, but he’ll be fine
2) riggleman didn’t quit on his team, he didn’t get a vote of confidence (money, contract not renew) from the F/O.. baseball is a business more than anything, he needs to look out for himself, it looks bad because his team is winning and all, but the fact is, the man needs to look out for himself, i think he did the right thing, show me the money or i walk, he walked as he was shown the door instead of money
3) ike davis is SOFT!!!!!!! i like him a lot, but a little calf injury is going to need season ending surgery??? really??? man up!!!!!
