They do because he is an easy mark! Bayonne isn’t always wrong but he is bad at backing up some of what he says.

BA does tell you more than OBP in regards to HITTING!
For instance what percentage of HITS comprise a .400 OBP?
Can you say? BA will tell you! As I have shown two players with the exact same OBP can be very different as HITTERS. One could have a .250 BA the other a .350 BA. If you ignore the BA you could select the wrong player!

The only reason why the Sabers say Clutch does not exist is because they have not found a way to properly calculate it.
Since their calculations are not capable they conclude clutch doesn’t exist.

On the reverse there are Calculations that says the Higgs Boson exists. Yet no one has ever found it! Maybe soon…

If all you do is go by NUMBERS you can’t calculate properly unless there is a number related to CLUTCH.
Also no numbers for GRIT and LEADERSHIP which are also things that most Saber folks claim do not exist.

I have had my knockdowns with Bayonne but SOME of what he says isn’t as rediculous and the few boneheads here claim they are.

But Bayonne is very bad at proving what he says that is right and then moves onto saying some things that are dead wrong!

Like I said they like to pick on him because when they try to pick on someone else on a point that agrees with Bayonne they lose their shirt!

Such as the OBP is Key BA can be ignored sentiment expresses very often here but disproved by me on many occassions.

And when I confront them with that they all start to sound like Bayonne! Changing the subject, running to excuses and abandoning the argument because they see which way it was going.

Then they go run to beat on Bayonne again to get their self esteem back!

I can’t understand why the three or so of you who actually seem to understand baseball engage Bayonne. I literally agree with about 95% of your posts, but I have to sift through crap about how BA tells you more than OBP or how the MVP should be given to the player with the most grit. It’s frustrating.

I’m just wondering why you guys bother. Is it because Metsblog is too homer-centric and AmazinAvenue is too much of a closed community? ‘Cuz I feel like it’s a losing battle over here.

Not really, PLAYERS are the ones who over rate them the most!
Not just because it translates to contract dollors but they get addicted to them and try for them.

This is pretty much what happened to Wright!

And his power problems started when he got into the HR derby and has not been the same batter since.

He had that one year with 30 and then the only thing that went up were the Ks after that.

SO in a sense David is over rating them.

Trying to hit HRs is just plain old WRONG APPROACH at the plate!

They are great when they happpen but trying to hit one at every at bat is just dead wrong! It leads to more Ks and less HRs PLUS less Hits.

If the Mets decide to trade Jose Reyes, they will have to bring back some awesome pitching prospects or a combination of a solid pitcher and a prospect. The day we send Jose packing we become a team with no catalyst or threat to control a game. Beltran has looked pretty good so far. Ike Davis is fast becoming a star player. Sandy Alderson has not tipped his cap yet as to where the franchise is going down the road. If the Mets can be players in the free agent market and find a stud opitcher if not two this team could be terrific…..

As fans we are prisoners awaiting the outcome of the financial situation that the Wilpons are in…..

How many has he hit in his games at CBP so far?

If you calculate based on his current numbers he would have NONE for the year there!

Just saying that if the fences were actually the issue all of his HRs would be away and all of his HR at home would be doubles or triples.

Most of his HRs are at home that tells me Either the fences are fine where they are or bringing in the fences really wouldn’t matter much because he doesn’t hit those HRs in parks where the fences ARE in.

David hasn’t gotten hot yet. Maybe when he does he will hit more away.

So far he has 16 games at home 57 AB and 4 HRs
Away he has 15 games 63 AB and 1 HR.

Short sample size. Go back to when David Wright came up look at all the bombs he was hitting. If you put David Wright at citizen bank park he would hit 40hr every year. Also Wright steals bases. Wright can easily go 30/30 for the next 5 year. Wright is one if not the best 3b in the game.
