By the way currently Beltran has a better OPS right now than he had in 07 and 08 when he played in 140+ games

And Reyes just so happens to be having a career year when his contract is expiring. So yeah I guess they are doing things they didn’t do when they were healthy.

If you think the fact they have expiring contracts doesn’t effect their play this season, then stay tuned because a jolly old fat guy will be coming down a chimney near you in December

If he is so distracted or mentally challenged at times on the bases should thnot take away from a healthy Jose, yes his contract is a factor, but does anyone really believe that other than injuries, Jose can and will perform at this level for many years.

Once again my two cents are for Jose staying cause he is the type of player that does not require power behind him to drive him in and he makes the situations on base better for the Mets and the hitter at the plate. Hope you are noticing this SA cause Jose is a treat to watch even in on s struggling team with his exhuberance, speed, energy and great skills on the field.

Many factors affect a player’s performance, including the manager’s influence, the team’s chemistry, personal motivation, health, injuries, and contract status. These are just some that come immediately to mind. To focus only on contract status is probably too cynical in my view.
