Minor League Report: Harvey Could Be Called Up By June 1st, Other Notables

For several weeks now, there has been a lot of talk about when Matt Harvey will be bumped up to Binghamton.  According to sources, It may not be long from now.

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, reports that the Mets could call up Matt Harvey up to Binghamton around June 1st.

As I’ve said, Matt Harvey’s real test will come when he is called up to Binghamton, because from there, he will be playing with other players who are older and have more expedience thus giving the 23-year old more of a challenge to help him with his development.

Here are some other notable news from the Mets minor league system.

Botts Signed; Assigned to Buffalo

Earlier this week, the Mets signed Jason Botts to a minor-league contract.  He has been assigned to Triple-A Buffalo.

B-Mets Swept by Fisher Cats

The B-Mets were swept in a 4-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats this week. Brad Holt, one of the Mets top prospects, is starting to struggle, as he now has two straight poor efforts leading to loses. Holt lasted only four innings and walked a career worst eight hitters in the final game of the series against the Fisher Cats on Thursday.

St.Lucie Mets On 5-Game Losing Streak

Things are not looking good for the St. Lucie Mets after a great start. They have now lost five straight games, and are now holding onto 1st place by just one game. They are playing the final game of a four game set against the Tampa Yankees tonight.

  • Once again Bay does not get a hit with RISP AND he is batting 4th?
I say either Murph or Turner cause Bay is being eaten up with that pitch on the outer corner, again and again.

I don’t know how Bay’s season will end but if he fails again then that money he is owed could have been used to keep Jose at least, sheesh.

Another wasted game when Jose was on base.
Beltran looks to be struggling too so our 3rd and 4th place hitters aren’t hitting and we depend on AAA call up Turner who has been stoking the ball but for how long?

2 years now that Mets are terrible with RISP, what the heck is going on, we have different players but still can’t hit with RISP.

Murph looks lost at the plate, if not for his play at 1st we might be seeing Hairston or Harris over there, where is Evans?
