Minor League Notes: Greg Peavy’s Outstanding May, Other Notables
On Mets Minor League Blog, they had a good article on pitcher Greg Peavy, who is pitching very well right now for Savannah. Check out the rest of the article on their blog.
Last June, the Mets took Greg Peavy, a pitcher from Oregon State in the 6th round, and assigned him to Savannah.
During the month of April, Peavy tossed 24 innings allowing 13 runs (12 earned), with 24 strikeouts. His ERA for the month of April was 4.10.
Then along came May, which has been a much different story. This month has been an outstanding one for Peavy as he pitched 30 innings and gave up only seven earned runs and racked up 24 K’s.
Overall, from what the stats are telling us, it doesn’t appears very likely that Greg Peavy will stay with Savannah for much longer.
Fernando Martinez Sent Down, Dale Thayer Called Up To Mets
As expected, the Mets sent down F-Mart to Triple-A Buffalo for Angel Pagan who rejoined the Mets after his stint on the DL. The Mets also called up Dale Thayer and designated Pat Misch.

WITH 4 SAVES I MUST WONDER IF THAYER IS CONSIDERED K-ROD’S HEIR APPARENT INSTEWAD OF PARNELL? AS ASSUREDLY THEY’RE LIKELY PLANNING ON REPLACING BELTRAN & FRANKIE WITH INTERNAL MINIMUM SALARIED ALTERNATIVES TO MEET THEIR 30% PAYROLL CUT GOAL.
I believe that in the next week, Matt Harvey will be getting bumped from Hi A St. Lucie, to AA Bingy. To replace Harvey in the Lucy rotation, it would make sense to promote Peavey at the same time. Which is good, considering these two guys represent two-fifths of the Mets 2013 rotation.
