But here’s the thing about Kirk. I think he’s showing himself to be a better minor leaguer than he ever has in the past. And it’s clearly because he’s developing plate discipline. Just look at his BB totals.

I don’t think he’ll ever be a starter though. Just another Met prospect we fall in love with for no reason

I don’t expect great things from Neuwenhuis, but I think he has the potential to be a solid major league hitter. Certainly no Carlos Beltran in his prime, but a much higher ceiling than Pagan. It’s a sad comment on the state of Met fans that the most we have to look forward to is, “well, he doesn’t suck!”, but that’s what it is.

i’ll give you a reason.. he’s got a cool name, therefore comparing him with a ficticious caracther from a movie/tv series makes him likeable, he can come up and hit .200 and mets fans will love him, becoz he got a cool name and we like him.. please.. gimme a break

Well if he was even sellable sure especially for a guy who has the injury history he does….You Sell!

No one was Buying Angel Pagan’s season as a trend…He was not HIGH on anyone’s list of players not even US!

He had a good year and if he had another good year this season without injury then he too would be talked about as a trade candidate at the deadline! The fact we had no CFer decided at the time was not why we didn’t sell High, It was because he wasn’t actually considered a HIGH player yet, he needed to do it again!

Right. “sell high” on the only healthy CFer this team had. Good idea. Beltran couldn’t have been expected to play CF this year. Pridie was hurt all last year. What was your idea for CF? Rush Kirk up here? Bring GMJ back? Fern? Play Hairston full time? Go out and sign a free agent? Trade for Rowand? Mickey Rivers? Lenny Dykstra?

Pagan was the everyday MVP the last two years, under team control, reasonable price, outstanding defender, great baserunner, in his physical prime, a no brainer.

See the idea is to add to the players that are likely to play well, not subtract them. Even if you don’t think much of Pagan he has done nothing but play well when he’s been healthy and that’s not something to be taken lightly around here.

Who exactly did we fail to sell high on anyway? Wagner? Schneider? Church? Castillo? Alou? Schowenweiss? Mota? Perez? Omir Santos? Anderson Hernandez? Alay Soler? Tim Redding? John Maine? Joaquin Arias? Argenis Reyes? Elmer Dessens?

Pagan definitely played over his head last year, but he’s cheap, and is a servicable starter until Cpt. Kirk is deemed ready. I doubt he rbings all that much back in return anyway.

I saw the presser with Alderson and I have to applaud him for how good he handles the press. Always concise (He knows only 30 seconds of it will be re aired!), Always Quick (Never has to look up in the air for the answer he seems right on top of every detail and question that is asked),

While it’s too early to say if his baseball philosophy is good (or even what it is!)
I have to say he is about as good of an executive as we have ever had.!
