If You’re Crappy And You Know It Clap Your Hands, And Bat Second For The Mets
I don’t typically like to do these short rants anymore even though that’s all I did when I first started this site, but today is an exception, so let the good times roll.
What the hell is this METS OBSESSION with putting their worst possible hitters in the two hole?
METS NUMBER TWO HITTERS ARE BATTING .193 IN 2011!
At first I thought it was just a Willie Randolph thing, but then it got insanely worse with Jerry Manuel, but today Terry Collins takes the cake by batting Willie Harris second in the rubber game against the Colorado Rockies.
Can somebody please explain how batting Harris second is conducive to winning?
He is batting .211 (15-70) and has a .304 OBP for crying out loud!
And this isn’t the first time either…
Worse yet, last week Collins had Chin-lung Hu batting second… HU????
METS NUMBER TWO HITTERS HAVE A .275 OBP IN 2011!
THAT’S THE WORST OBP IN ENTIRE LINEUP 1-8!
Why are the WORST hitters, getting the MOST at-bats?
This is ridiculous…
My little niece could do a better job writing out today’s lineup card for the Mets.
Oh and what was the big deal of getting Wright a day off today of all days? It couldn’t wait until we played the bottom dwelling Astros this weekend?
The more things change, the more they stay the same…
Or in this particular case, get worse!

Oh great thanks Joe D now I’ll be humming that diddy of a tune “If your crappy and you know it clap your hands” for the rest of the day.
Bwah ha ha ha ha! We are cursed! There is no such thing as a good Mets manager!
Couldn’t agree more, it was the first thing that popped out to me when I saw the lineup, it made me cringe…but it still did not surprise me! Thats the sad part ;(
Props for the title, props for the excellent points, props for not using 1000 words to make them.
What’s really worse is 2/3rds of the lineup could be considered ‘crappy’ right now.
So pick your poison in the 2 spot.
If you’re going to blab about how important OBP is for more than a decade, you would think Alderson and Collins wouldn’t have such a horrendous and embarasing showing with the wo spot in order.
Thought you should know 2010 Mets two hiters had a .311 OBP, 36 points higher than the current cast.
Harris will hit for cycle today–K, pop out, GIDP, fly ball!
With a lineup like this, who need the Rox to put up an L?
Ever the optimist, aren’t you, Russell? I see a guy who makes Endy look like a world’s champ. P.S.: At least 2K for Harris. I hope I’m wrong. LOL
Joe, your dilemma amuses me in some perverse way. You just don’t like anything with a “2″ in it.
Defensively — 2B position.
Offensively — 2 in the batting order.
Let’s all chill out. The die was cast some time ago when Uncle Bernie did his dirty deed. Look what’s next:
Standings — If we wind up as Number 2 you’ll be happy.
Murphy should be hitting second now…and when Pagan comes back, I’d like to see him hit there because I like having Reyes and Pagan’s speed at the top of the order.
How about Pridie in the 2 spot? .250/.345/.500 would actually be an improvement there.
Joe—
If your little niece works cheap, she may be next in line.
