The more I think about this the more I think this may be the reason Wilpons made a deal with Einhorn. They need someone with deep prockets. On your other point I don’t see the Mets playing competitive ball. If anything they are moving in the other direction and must be the laughing stock when teams see them on the schedule.

He will play it slick and quietly move Fred aside when Fred is at the end of his rope.

There is no doubt in my mind he’ll have this team in three years but will the franchise be so underwater will he still want it knowing he may have to pour in 500 million more to cover new debts and rebvuild. Maybe 500 mil won’t even do it. After all as currently configured the Mets are not a viable competitive MLB franchise.
