Beltran, Beltran, Beltran!!!
GOING…
GOING…
GONE!
WELL DONE, BELTRAN!
Beltran homered three times for the first time in his career on Thursday to beat the Colorado Rockies, 9-5, at Coors Field.
“I always wondered how it would feel to get three homers in a game. It feels great! Being able to do something like this, I feel like a little kid, honestly. I was smiling. I never smile a lot, but I was smiling. I was happy.”
David Wright, who had the day off, said it best I believe.
“He was a one-man wrecking crew today. … Carlos, obviously, any time you hit three home runs and drive in six, that’s a monster day. I don’t think there’s any secret how good he is.”
What a tremendous performance from a tremendous athlete and the best centerfielder the Mets ever had. It’s going to be very hard to see him go when that day comes. Very hard. Until then, I’ll enjoy moments like this one very much.

Amen, it will be painful to see Carlos go, especially knowing that the fans never really appreciated and recognized how good we had it having a player of his caliber roaming our outfield in his prime, a true five tool player, as graceful as any athlete he made it look easy, which lead to many fans unfairly questioning his ‘hustle’. Good luck Carlos wherever u wind up, he is proving he has PLENTY left in the tank, as long as his knees hold up he will have 2-3 more productive seasons
The Only issue with keeping Beltran is he is going to want a contract that will finish out his career and set him up. With those knees this is probably the last big payday for him.
And I’m not sure Sandy will take that kind of risk…a 2 or 3 year deal with an option maybe but I don’t think Beltran would be giving and discounts.
So he will probably go!
And it won’t be because he isn’t productive and doesn’t help you win games every day he plays.
Like I said before…when healthy, Beltran is far more valuable than Wright. I love Beltran, gonna miss him when he is gone.
Well if YOU said it, it must be true.
Why does one players accomplishments ALWAYS come with a slam on another?
Did I slam Wright…or did I simply say I believe a healthy Beltran is more valuable than Wright??
Where is Greg Pomes today?
Oh, he was on Twitter, saying that Coors Field contributed to his monster offensive performance.
Of course he’s on Twitter, because that fat little worm would never have the balls to say the stuff he says on Twitter on here.
Why do we care? I’ve never understood the fascination with him. He talks crap, offers no insight, and isn’t even funny with his insults. He doesn’t even have the Murray Chass\Mike Francesa factor of being a guy who used to be good but has gone down the drain.
Beltran already got “set up” with his big payday (his current deal). The next one is just the gravy, but a 2nd island someplace, overkill deal!
and too risky for a NL team now, especially one with a large OF to patrol. Even putting team situation aside (financial and rebuilding status), he is much more likely to go to the AL, which could easily extend his career a few extra seasons.
With his knees I see him going to the AL as a part time outfielder and primarily as a DH. Call me crazy bt the Bombers would love to have him, as Posada is a bust as a DH and they have enough catching. With the Yankees dropping into second place, a guy like Beltran could save their season. Where am I wrong?
What would the Yankees offer, Posada and Andrew Jones? All kidding aside, I am not sure what they have to offer us. I do not want Chamberlain.
I never expected Beltran to tear up Rockies pitching like he did last night but i was like holy crap! Its definitely great to see Beltran hit like he once did.
Is Beltran only kicking butt because he wants to be traded? Sad if he could have been doing this all along…….
Well, if the organization hadn’t screwed up handling his knee problem, we probably would have had him most of last year.
Beltran is kicking butt because he is an awesome player and healthy.
Yes, most definitely. I think now that Beltran is “officially” healthy, his production is because of that. He definitely is an awesome player, just when healthy.
Love the headline!!!
If Carlos has made an mistakes in his career with Mets it is that he is a quiet person who believes in doing the best for his community whether in NY or Puerto Rico plus he has never fired back at his critic, many on Mets blog sites, questioning the fire in his belly yet not realizing how much being hurt has impacted him and Mets.
After the collision with Cameron in OF he was back quick to play in OF but if your body is not performing at 100% then you can’t produce.
He, like Jose, depends a lot on his legs to provide the power to drive the ball in gaps and over the fence and now after this game he has showed us that he is back to the player he once was.
We can complain all we want about his contract but when healthy he has delivered and provide Mets with class, consistent at bats and leadership.
If not for his knee and leg problems in the past two years he would have made a big difference to this team.
Lastly I for one will miss his sweet stride as he ran down balls hit in gaps and as he ran around the bases without effort.
Thank you Carlos for your class, community involvement and performance on the field.
Here, here!
Well said, Bro!
