How can you say it’s a bone bruise and then say oh and maybe a high sprain too?
How can almost EVERY injury be misdiagnosed and turn out to be worse than originally thought?

Why is this medical staff almost always wrong when they diagnose the first time?

And it’s not 100 times out of 100 especially since the first baseman has the bigger glove and the ball drifts to his side maybe he was expecting to get it and BOOM out of nowhere comes Wright. yeah right..100 out of 100.

I know you like to make fun of the coaching aspect of this but at least some people have done it while others like you confuse fantasy baseball with real baseball.

If Mike Pelfrey SAYS SOMETHING instead of watches the play than this all could have been avoided but you can’t tell me that Ike could not have been able to call off Wright since the ball drifted towards the first base side of mound.

Wright is not the brightest bulb on the field too you know but he did what he had to do. It was an extenuating circumstance but fundamentally…it’s the first baseman’s ball.

It’s Ike Davis’ ball.

NOW – if Mike Pelfrey saw that and yelled out Ike Ike Ike than maybe this never happens. Or i’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and if Mike Pelfrey saw Ike come (he was closer to the play anyway since the ball went to first base side of infield) then EVEN THOUGH the ball is the first baseman’s ball Pelfrey STILL should have yelled at Ike to let David take it anyway, regardless

As many have pointed out the ball started out in the air on the third base side of the mound and just barely drifted over to the right, in front of the mound. How are you determining that would then be the 1st baseman’s ball?

What it really was, was a freak accident, one that unfortunately resulted in an injury to Ike. We’ve seen worse collisions with players, walls, fences that didn’t result in a DL stint to the player(s).

I’ve found on the web resources that say the first baseman is the guy who should take popups by the mound because he has the LARGER GLOVE.

That being said sure it can also change depending on the level of skill. If it’s between an expert like Keith Hernandez in his day convening by the mound versus a rookie 3B than it goes to 1B or maybe even it goes to 3B but based on what i saw it should go to first base.

In any event i think we can ALL agree that Mike Pelfrey stood there like a moron just watching and said nothing. HE should have said directed the play and said something and this never would have happened.

SO again, where does it say that the popup by the mound is the third baseman’s ball exclusively?

I had a problem with my left foot plantar some 10 years ago that didn’t involve a tear but what is commonly referred to as plantar fasciitis. It took a 14 months to heal where I no longer had pain. I can’t imagine how a partial tear will heal with no pain in this short period of time.

From what I’m reading, they’re more concerned about his ability to come off the mound and field his position then they are with his actually pitching.
