You are corret, Wright is NOT a number three hitter, but he’s simply the most qualified to do it right now. If it were up to me, Ike would bat third against right handed pitching and Wright third aganst LHP. Leave Beltran cleanup and bat one or the other number 5 when they are not batting third.

You know jersey, why is it OK for you to force your opinion on others and then criticize people for doing the same? You start your comment “in my opinion” and then use the rest of your comment to harass Bayonne about his opinion. What’s that all about? I thought you were going to add your insight and instead just the same old intimidation tactics.

So what are your opinions on the subject of approach at the plate instead of your opinion of Bayonne’s opinion?

And BTW, who ever mentioned being repetitive, nobody is as repetitive as Mr North Jersey in following up every Bayonne opinion with an opinion of Bayonne rather than an opinion of the topic.

Unless those constantly attacking others with their sarcasm and name calling are actually children, then there’s no excuse for that type of immaturity.
I can’t wrap my brain around why some adults can’t have a baseball debate without taking it personal when those on the other side of the fence don’t agree with them.

METSFAN, you might have a point. But Ike needs to sharpen his defense right now. He can’t blame an ump for being unaware how to execute a cutoff. (Just an example, but there are more.) Sometimes Ike seems bored in the field and gets caught unaware, acting flummoxed.

I didn’t say I hate him. I said a stint in the minors could help him. That is not hating, it’s something I’ve seen work with guys who get hit hard despite having the tools to be successful.

The problem with Pelfrey is partly that people still think of him as a top of the rotation guy. It’s not his fault that the rest of the staff is so inexperienced, old, or injury prone that he floats to the top.

The expectations are too high, and it’s partly due to the real demented fans, the ones that think he’s a borderline all star. Yes, I know Collins said that too, but as the manager, he’s supposed to instill confidence in his guys.

When he had his alleged hot start last year, there were a few of us that pointed out that a WHIP of 1.5 does not an all star make.

He’s one of the most hittable top of the rotation guys in the league, if not the most.

Wrights just not a #3 hitter. You need a real professional hitter in that spot, someone without such streakiness, someone without huge platoon splits, someone who adapt their AB’s to the situation at hand similar to what lesser hitters like Ruiz and Polanco did in Philly, or Ivan did yesterday. Shorten the swing, dump it into RF and drive in two. Doing that once out every 3 times beats the 2B or HR in that situation once every 8 times and the K 4 times. Swinging as hard as you can every AB should only be done in HR derby, not games.

Wrights just not a #3 hitter. Period. Reyes for all his dynamism, base running is not a professional leadoff hitter. He can drive a ball once in a while, he can hit .300, he can effect the pitcher when he’s OB but he just doesn’t get on enough. He hits a load of pop ups and a load of GB’s. He’s constantly in a 0-2 or 1-2 count, doesn’t bunt anywhere near enough with no one on and his stolen bases in front of guys who hit HR’s and 2B’s are less valuable then they would be in front of guys who hit singles. His best chances to get on would come from the bunt, next would be just looking first pitch fastball, getting it and swinging at good pitches rather than **** one’s, then adapting when pitchers adapt to him.

These two guys were only surrounded by competent offensive players for a very short period of their careers and even then never hit in an 8 cylinder lineup, more like a 5.5. Since 2008 it’s been more like a 4 cylinder.

With Reyes hitting 1 and Wright hitting 3 you could reasonably expect the two of them to team up for lots of runs but one’s never OB, has a poor eye, swings at numerous off the plate offerings, pops up like crazy. Even many of his hits are just GB’s and the other is a #5 hitter.
