Back in the early ’90′s, McCarver criticized Deion Sanders about playing both football and baseball. To get even, Neon Deion dumped a bucket of ice water on McCarver several times in the Braves’ clubhouse. That shut up McCarver a while. Nothing else seems to work.

Well said Joe! I can’t stand McCarver and Buck either. When McCarver first emerged on the scene, he was excellent, no to borrow your phrase, he’s an “old windbag”. I remember last year during the 20 inning marathon game with the Cards, McCarver was talking about speaking to Bud Seelig about how if anyone how crashes into a catcher during a play at the plate should be automatically suspended!Isn’t the catcher the guys with all the padding and the helmet on?

Ah, Timmy McCarver, who played for 4 decades, was Bob Gibson’s favorite catcher, and can tell stories about his life in baseball that you wouldn’t believe.

Never underestimate Timmy – he knows whereof he speaks.

I’ve still got the scorecard he mailed me from Montreal way back when I told him it was the only way to keep it from messing up the broadcast studio.

I think Tim is still sore he was sacked by Wilpons for being outspoken. Before Gary, Keith, and Ron I missed his straight up style and humor. But, really this is none of his business except how it pertains between the white lines. If he comes in to broadcast a game and the Mets just traded Jose Reyes, because they cant meet his demands, then he has evey right to pontificate.

At this juncture it sounds like someone who has an ax to grind.

John Miller and Joe Morgan are no longer broadcasting Sunday nights, damn it. I actually liked the two of them, mostly John Miller, something about his voice and the way he delivers the game, I truly enjoy it. Joe Morgan could get a little stale and sometimes go off on a tangent or not even be paying attention.

How about John Miller and Bobby V, now that would be a very interesting combination.

I am not sure why you felt Miller and Morgan were worse than Buck and McCarver, the fox broadcast is terrible, just terrible, and they easily put me to sleep. Heck I have muted so many Mets/Cardinals games broadcast by them that I have lost count.

I LOATHE Tim McCarver, he is by far the most biased, and Retarded sports broadcaster out there. I can tolerate Joe Buck, but I HATE McCarver. He and his lousy ass singing career can take a bleeping hike.
