I like Nickeas, too bad he can’t hit!

Paulino will probably play vs Lefties and when he is not doing that will be a lefty bat off the bench.

Supposedly he crushes lefties and thats great but my biggest concern right now is how will he call games for our Pitching staff who just now seems to be getting it together and will his unfamiliarity with them cause them issues. WEspecially Pelfrey who doesn’t take control and shake off the catcher.

I don’t know, Ll, to me Thole is becoming a bigger and bigger defensive plus since joining the Metsies; he really sucked when he first came up, but he must be working overtime at it.

I don’t deny Thole is a hard nosed, hard working professional. It’s not a personal attack on the man. Having said that watch Paulino play this weekend. Compare how Paulino catches to Thole. It’s hard not to root for a player like Thole. Of course I hope Thole continues to develop both offensively and defensively. However at some point we have to realize that every player has limitations placed on their development. Jason Kendell is a wonderful player.
But can a team contend and win with a “Jason Kendell” type catcher playing 120 games a year?

We need him. I’ve seen Thole’s number this spring too many times chasing after balls that got by him.
