I agree with you on this. The only ones you list that could belong here are Harris and Carrasco. The rest should be disposed of although Turner should be given time to show whether he has something to offer. Hu, Pridie, and Byrdak have no value. It’s sad when we have to be relelgated to using a no hit defensive Cf’er like Pridie to play ENTIRE games, not just 9th inning defensive replacement situations. This is all a result of poverty stricken owners and no way to fill Grandma’s pantry. Also, can we dump Paulino now and send him on his way?. A lot of good that guy has been. When is he going to be ready to actually man the field? I’m good to go with Nikeas as the backup and forget Alderson ever signed this worthless bum.

That’s the problem, there are way too many minor leaguers on this team: Hairston, Harris, Hu, Pridie, Turner, Byrdak, Carrasco and Igarashi. That’s one third of your major league roster, and none of them belong in the big leagues at all.

Pridie was called up because of his glove. Both Collins and bench coach Oberkfell are very familiar w/ Pridie’s defensive ability having had him in AAA in 2010. Collins said that they went for the CF glove because he isn’t going to ask Beltran to move from RF. He told Beltran that once the switch was made from CF to RF that he wouldn’t jerk him around from one spot to the other out of respect for the veteran. I can respect that decision. As far as why Pridie and not Neiuwenhuis, I would say they don’t feel like Cap’n Kirk would get enough AB’s to justify calling him up. If they don’t plan on playing him every day then not calling him up was the right choice. Plus, he probably needs more time to prove himself in AAA vs LHP as well before the Mets feel comfortable calling him up. If Beltran is traded in July then I’d expect to see him called up and given regular PT either in RF or in CF w/ Pagan in RF.

Sorry metsfan Hairston and Harris were brought here to spell Beltran on the days he needed a rest (such as todays possible start due to it being a day game after a night game) or if Beltran got hurt.

And considering both those guys have had glove issues and are hitting like Minor leaguers, it makes sense and sends a message to them, start hitting or the Minor leaguer will get your playing time!

Well you really wouldn’t want to mess with Carlos at this point. He has shown some problems covering ground even in RF and it would not be fair or wise to mess with him at this point.

While you can question the ascendance of Pridie I think they went for the glove and not the bat. They could have also gone with Hairston or Harris as well but that would leave some sketchy gloves out on center. And those guys are hitting like a Minor league call up anyway.

Kirk needs to be developed and not rushed. It also makes a lot of sense to give a guy like pridie a shot hoping he can up his trade stock because I think it is a foregone conclusion that we will be trading SOMETHING at the deadline.

I happen to like the fact they asked the Buffalo crew who was the best CF and went with that decision as opposed to promoting someone they want to see do well but hasn’t earned it yet.

And it sends a message to the Minor leaguers that if you work hard and impress the coaches there you might just get the callup when your position is needed.

The fact they saw the need to bring up this horrid ballplayer is a clear demonstration of the failures of Alderson in signing Hairston and Harris. Those two were touted as the centerfielders if Pagan went down and this team then has to resort to calling up Pridie. Maybe if Alderson would use scouts instead of relying on the judgement of his staff of fired ex-GMs this team would have had some decent basck up options. Instead all they had were junk. It was bad under Minaya and it is getting worse under Alderson. Wake us up when his studying years are over. What can you expect. The guy was delivered to the Wilpons by their buddy Buddy Selig. Crap attracts crap.

Evans is not a CF and why add kirk nieuwenhuis to the 40 and start the clock on him for 14 days?

Jesus Feliciano who is down at AA at this time I guess you can make a case for but according to Collins when he asked the AAA staff for the best CF they felt Pridie was the better CF.
