If they wait until ASG or Santana return to address the Pelf as #1 issue it may be too late!
It’s my opinion that had the entire hierarchy of the rotation & not just it’s spots been open for competition, the most likely “earned” rotational order based upon combining career stats/history/experiences(THEN) + ST stats(NOW) would have yielded a much more sevicable/trustworthy rotation order of:
DICKEY
YOUNG
NIESE
PELFREY
CAPUANO
I’d love to be able to replay this short season in that order to measure results against our current 4-2 record, gut tells me it’d likely be 5-1 as Dickey likely matches Johnson’s zeroes long enough t prevail that night! these 2 Phillies games are results undeterminable had Pelfrey faced Hamels & Dickey Blanton, either way today’s matchup of Halladay/Young would certainly required Doc to be at his best.

Hey, T, I’ve come up with an interesting comparison that perhaps explains how despite Reyes’ sub-expected OBP has his winning contributions remaining so high, While discussing this phenomenon with my personal group of family/friends/NYM/NYY fans I did some calculastions in as much as I chose Carl Crawford & Derek Jeter’s careers for a quick & dirty comparative analysis analyzing each player’s % of scoring a run whenever they reach base safely as well as what % of their outs made are totally non-productive outs(Ks)
Look at this:

CRAWFORD:.337
JETER:.384
REYES: .335
% of times on base leasding to R on board:
CRAWFORD: .4594435(46%)
JETER: .470867(47%)
REYES:.483333(48%)
% OF OUTS ARE NON-PRODUCTIVE(Ks):
CRAWFORD: 23%
JETER: 27%
REYES: 18%
I certainly hope Sandy’s stats consideration extends beyond OBP and delves into why Reyes’ significance towards team results is so critical! In EVERY single Season in which Reyes played more than 150 games the team’s results were better than .500, whenever he played in fewer that 150 games the team finished below .500. Road W% egually effected by Reyes’ health.
as we’ve said emotionally, these actual numbers proves statistically that

JOSE REYES = THE MOST ESSENTIAL MET

BTW, I’m resolved to live with the NAKED EMPEROR(Santana) if Pelf is dealt as naked or not Santana’s contributions, though still disappointing to me are most likely to exceed Pelf’s or the most likely callup(Gee, Holt, et al.)

We don’t have Bay or Johan yet, They don’t have Utley yet. too much can happen between now and october. If anything it showed some real positives going forward. The offense, the fight, the pitching, save for Pelfrey. But win or lose today, it means absolutely zero.

I like your enthusiasm and optimism though. I’m on board.

No more resting your bullpen and a starting pitcher gets an easy win.

Pelfrey pitched like ****. I’m really worried about this guy, and yet still if he hadn’t thrown the ball past 3B on Blanton’s bunt and Carlos comes up with Polanco’s line drive we have a great chance to win the game.

Maybe we should contact Borass and have him explain to Pelfrey the necessity of establishing inside. Not inside corner. Inside, up, down and especially in between.

If he’s not going to go in there he doesn’t have the stuff to keep us in games.

The important thing right now is to win the series. Sends a message. Not a very BIG message.

We didn’t see any of the three aces in this series.
It will take at least another two seies before any tone is established.
