Bay’s Return From DL Now Pushed To Thursday
The Mets announced that Jason Bay will be activated from the disabled list on Thursday, two days later than he would have been eligible on Tuesday.
Bay was in New York today to meet with Sandy Alderson, Terry Collins, and team doctors, and it was decided he needed more time before being activated.
Due to the cold weather in Buffalo and Binghamton, Bay will return to Florida and play two more rehab games tomorrow and Wednesday for Single-A St. Lucie.
Bay last played for the Mets on July 25, 2010 when he suffered a concussion.
His replacements in left field this season have been awful and have combined to hit just .233 with a .690 OPS.

Actually Bay is coming back a few days earlier. Alderson said he doesnt expect him back before the 26th. Collins was the one who said he thought Bay would be back by the ATL series. The big question is who do they send down to make room? It better not be Gee!
Hu or Emaus, please!
You know I just don’t get it. Why not keep Misch and Gee in the Pen?? Long ballers and we all know will both get there fair share of starts. Send Parnell and someone else down!!! Padro Biato and Berdock is it??? They’ve been great along with Frankie and Izzie. Bring Rubin T. back up for 2nd everyday and keep Danny for supper Utility. Come on guys this isn’t rocket science. Takahashi saved our bacon last yr. out of the pen as our everything. Mostly longballer. Misch and Gee can do the same. and exscuse me, but Emus is a huge mistake!!!! Let’s get serious. Rubin was just getting a clue how to hit at the big leage last yr. and was good in spring. He doesn’t need practice at shortstop. He’s a natual middle infielder. Lets call up the troops!!!
Because they are much more valuable to us as starters. Young is already having injury issues and Capuano prob isn’t far behind him.
You don’t give up the greater role to fill the lesser. We did that with Mejia and looked how bad that worked out. If he had stayed in the Minors and pitched a full season at starter we might have had Mejia leading the rotation right now!
HAPPY DAYS!!!! I’M SO PROUD OF YOU LITTLE METSIES FOR STILL SUPPORTING YOUR RAG TAG BUNCH. YOUR DESPERATE MANAGER SURE LOOKED LIKE A MAN DESPERATE TO SAVE HIS JOB ONLY TQWO WEEKS INTO THE SEASON PITCHING THE INJURY PLAGUED STARTER/RELEIVER. CAN’T WAIT TILL HE LOSES THE CLUBHOUSE AND ALL YOUR PLAYERS. HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!!!!
Tell mommy the caps lock broke!
