It did cost us two runs though so it is proof that Bad Glove can extend an inning and cost you runs.

But you are correct you can’t expect Murphy to go a whole season without an error and no matter what your confidence level in Murphy’s glove is you have to admit that no one else’s glove has showed to be any better! And if we are forced to deal with Errors it is better to go for the error that at least hits and can make up any runs he cost us.

Murphy has done a good job with the glove so far. His biggest gaffs have come on the base paths which I think is easily correctable.

Will Murphy be the 2B of the future? Doubtful, but if there is a fire sale at the trading deadline he might just be the future 3B if they decide to trade Wright.

I know that doesn’t comfort anyone (including me) but if we go into a FULL rebuild as has been suggested it does make trading Wright much easier for Sandy.

Personally I hope that isn’t the case but they need to keep winning to avoid Sandy deciding to blow it all up and starting over.

He had only 10 errors in 2009 at 1st base where he was learning to play on the job. THis year he made an error today at 2nd base where he is learning again. He tried to do too much and go after the lead runner and missed the ball.(See Terrys comment) I will say that he will not exceed 10 this year. Thats not a lot and he is getting better each day. He made up for the error by hiting the go ahead run and also the insurance run later.He plays better than Dan Uggla played at 2nd the first few years. Lets give him a chance. We need his bat.
