it’s unfortunate that some people can’t see more than a week into the future and fantasize about having a playoff contending team this year. unfortunate for them, because they’ve been and will continue to be disappointed.

having debates like duda or harris, tejada or murphy – it’s hilarious. they’re deck chairs on the titanic.

the reality is this: reyes is gone, beltran is gone, k-rod is gone. there is NO starting pitching on this team, and there is no money to spend.

if there’s an ownership change, I would guess that this team may compete in two years. most likely, it will take at least three.

Jeff Francoeur was the starting right fielder. Hairston and Harris are supposed to be back ups. Bay got hurt 3 days before the team broke camp and screwed things up. Not the same situation.

Just to expand on your point Coop, Hu was badly at three pitches, but when Rodriguez was tired, Reyes, Thole, and Wright took very few pitches. I think Wandy had a ten pitch inning late. These guys need to know, late in the game, and the starters is still in there, be selective, especially with the tight strike zone they had last night.

Absolutely agree. I was screaming that Rodriguez was tired, he had thrown a lot of pitches and there were 2 outs with MOB and he sends up HU who then proceeds to strike out on three straight pitches? Really, Terry, we couldn’t do better than Hu at that point? I know, it’s early but he done f’d up there!

Pinch hitting Hu last night is a puzzler to me. He was totally overmatched. But the alternative for a middle infield roster spot was presumably Ruben Tejada. Because of the steady foghorn of misinformation coming from some point near our Statue of Liberty, I’ve posted a lot in the past week about just who Tejada is as a baseball player. It’s not pretty. Yes, we are in need of rebuilding our rebuilding.

Rushing guys because you have done a **** job in the draft just means your more likely to ruin whoever does show their talent and it’s almost always guaranteed to cause you to lose games up here.

Mejia had 3 months up here last year under orders not to throw anything but his cutter, think that was “developing” the kid? He then spent a month injured then bounced between A, AA and AAA before coming up here and being shut down again. What kind of a “development plan” is that?

Give him the full year and 3 or 4 starts if he’s doing really well in September. If they had done that with him last year he might be here right now and pitching great in the Major Leagues.
