The question now is did everyone who claims they would not buy a ticket if Perez and castillo were on the team call up yesterday and get them?

My guess is probably not because most had no intention of buying tickets this year they just wanted to get rid of players so their TV viewing experience was better!

Pete, u do realize ANY new ownership must be approved by our competitors(COMMISIONER'S OWNERSHIP COMMITTEE) and as such I can not conceive of any logical rationale for them to approve the type of owner we fans, would approve. I can't picture them allowing a Cuban or Trump access to a team in the most lucrative MLB market in existance & as Boston & NYY freespendingf ways have escalated avg salaries used throughout arbitratiobn hearings making their nonNY payrolls rise significantly, adding a third such inflator is certainly against their own interests.

Although the financial aspect, (having to take a second mortgage to afford to go to a game) has not deterred me from going to Citi at least four times each season, I refuse to go this year for purely political reasons. I am making a statement and saving cash at the same time. My statement was this: As long as Ollie Perez is on this team, I refuse to go to Citi again, plain and simple. Now that he is gone, I cannot, with good conscience, do anything to help those Idiot Wilpons keep the team. They are hanging on with their long dirty fingernails, trying to pull Mets nation down into oblivion with them. To my way of thinking, if no one goes to the games this year, their financial losses will force them to sell the team sooner. And now with Ollie and Luis gone, that should be our number one priority as Mets fans! Drive out the Idiot Wilpons! Unite Mets fans in this common cause!

Bring the kids to a local sandlot ballpark and let them throw and hit the ball around. It's a great entertainment value. We might even enjoy it ourselves.

I dont have any kids of my own, but one game last season I took my nephew (sister's son) to a Mets game, and what ball game it was. Mike Pelfrey, Pedro Feliciano and K-Rod shutout the Phillies 3-0. What started out as 100 bucks for tickets and 20 bucks for parking was just the beginning of a financial nightmare. It started raining and the start of the game was delayed about 2 or 2 1/2 hours. By the time the first pitch was thrown, I was already $250 in the hole just on food, beverages, a t-shirt and a program. About the third inning it had been a couple of hours since we last ate and were hungry again. the line was far too long at shakeshack so we went to Blue smoke and got a couple of barbeque sandwiches and some fries plus two more drinks. Some cracker jacks along the way and two more drinks, coke for him, beer for me, and when all was said and done the evening cost me a little over $300 smackers. No big deal, it was my godson and it was worth it, except for the fact that he spen most of his time texting his friends on his phone. My lesson in how to score a game ended about five minutes in when he said well isn't that why they have the big scoreboards. lol, I had a great time but I also learned a lot about baseball and how kids dont see it the way we did at their age. 20 years from now, I dont think baseball will still be the national pastime.

why the hate on citi? If you want to sit and watch the game, feel free. No one forces anyone to do other things. And there isn't that much to do there, just that one corner of stuff for the little kids, right? I don't consider having more food options to be a negative!

at least you can walk around there, unlike Shea where it was like the titanic, with the lower classes gated off into the steerage class accommodations!

the met ticket prices do get skewed by having some extremely high ones. the upper deck is still, overall, somewhat reasonable.

Not as cheap as in many other cities, but NY is like that all over. tickets to a show, a movie, you name it and it costs more in NY.

No, they don't have $5 nosebleeds anymore, but that is the price of progress!

Ah the good old days. Shea stadium it was a dump but it was our dump. Built like the old Roman Coliseum where gladiators went to fight and die for the thrill of the crowds. Thank you Mr. Moses.

Now we have Citi Field the home for corporate greed or so I am told. Built to resemble Ebbetts Field the team the Mets wound up replacing cause they didn't want to move to Shea stadium.

Having never been to Citi I can't comment on it with 1st hand experience. Yet being a Mets fan and having seen tons of footage and pictures I find it hard to not love the new home of the Mets as I did the old one.

Ticket prices will never be like the days of old where taking a family of 5 to a game didn't break your wallet. It's just something that is I guess. I don't know where the Mets stand this year amongst MLB with ticket prices but the average non premium seat last year for a Mets game was 6th highest in MLB. It was $5.48 above the MLB average of last year.

It still is an expensive ticket but overall compared to the rest of MLB I don't think it can be argued to be within reason.

Keep in mind that based on what I read this is so because the Mets classify a large amount of seating as “premium,” as the seats come with extra amenities or private club access and the above avg price does not take into account premium seating.

Here is the top 6 most expensive tickets from 2010.

2010 Most Expensive MLB Tickets

$52.56 Chicago Cubs
$52.32 Boston Red Sox
$51.83 New York Yankees
$38.65 Chicago White Sox
$32.99 Philadelphia Phillies
$32.22 New York Mets

$26.74 MLB League Average

So yes while nothing will take away my memories of Shea. I look further even more to what memories await me at our new home Citi Fields. If we are losing the kids or not I can't say with any certainty I just know that in my family all the kids coming up now are either Mets or Yankee fans and they been that way some from as young as 5.

Been going down for a weekend to see 2 games for a number of years. First year at Citi Field we could barely afford one game. Spent over a hundred bucks a piece and still sat comparable to the old Mezzanine section at Shea. Didn't go last year. I live 4 1/2 hours a way so we stay overnight. Don't wanna spend $500 to see a game. For that, we can go to Pittsburgh to see the Mets.

Been going down for a weekend to see 2 games for a number of years. First year at Citi Field we could barely afford one game. Spent over a hundred bucks a piece and still sat comparable to the old Mezzanine section at Shea. Didn’t go last year. I live 4 1/2 hours a way so we stay overnight. Don’t wanna spend $500 to see a game. For that, we can go to Pittsburgh to see the Mets.

The ballpark is a spectacle. You can't deny that. But I think people wander about because the play on the field has been lacking heart the past few years. Moreover, Citifield has terrible site lines throughout. That's a major miss with its design. You go there to see a game, but when you get to your seat, you find that you can't see major portions of the field. A ball was hit down the line. Did it go out? Was it caught? Is it foul? Who knows? Wait for the crowd reaction, then you'll know. Otherwise, you have to look up on the monitors to find out. Why stay in your seat for that?
