Jason Bay Scratched With Sore Back
Don’t look for Jason Bay in the Mets lineup this weekend as he will sit out for the next couple of days with a sore back.
Bay said his back tightened up on him taking batting practice on Friday and it still feels a little stiff this morning.
He has decided to sit out for a couple of days to let it heal and hopefully some rest will do the trick.
He did say, that if this were the regular season he would have played and does not believe it will become an issue or anything to worry about.

No big deal. Angel Pagan just had the same stuff happen to him. I’m not worry about it at all.
Yeah but Angels was supposedly do to a bad bus ride.
My guess is Bay’s is related to all that messing he did with his swing earlier this spring and now that he has gone back to his old swing it could just be an issue of using muscles he wasn’t using earlier.
But it is something to watch out for, didn’t he have a back issue rumor when we signed him?
Boston wanted to insert a clause in Bay’s contract regarding his knee and shoulder in order to give him a 4 year deal. Bay declined and signed with us. The Sox have also done the same thing with Drew and Lackey so it may not have been specifically done for Jason but it shows that something might have been there.
I think Boston really wanted a year and a half from Jason and two #1 picks myself. They selected Anthony Ranaudo and Brandon Workman, two RHP with those picks.
I mentioned about Bay’s back and the new stance, the one that he ditched, last week in the chatroom.
I said he looked stiff, wasn’t crouching and was hitting flat-footed which puts stress on your back when you swing.
I’m not surprised.
I bet that’s why he ditched his new stance 3 days ago.
