Ya, generally giving out free passes like a low rent club promoter is a negative. But, he’s got good stuff when he does find the zone. Maybe he’ll get his head on straight and his reputation for walking guys will get him a few cheap Ks.

He is recovering from surgery to shorten one of his ribs, to stop it from causing oblique problems. He says he feels really good, but has not played any games yet, and there is no timetable as to when his season will begin.

“Daniel Murphy: Hey, it’s the Dan man! I love Daniel Murphy but he cannot field at second base if his life depended on it.” Let’s all hope that Havens gets off to a great start in the minors and stays healthy. I’m sure he’ll be up soon enough if those two things happen and Emaus struggles. What do the Mets have to lose?

See that’s the thing.

I have no problem with Boyer’s stuff – in fact, I think his fastball is quite respectable and his complementary secondary stuff makes it even better.

But when the only problem is “He walks too many people”, it always gets on my nerves. It’s a lot better than an Oliver Perez type scenario where he can’t find the strike zone but I don’t like guys that walk people a lot.

I don’t read Rubin, so I didn’t realize anyone else had noticed Boyer is killing Spring Training. He’s pitching better than anyone not named K-Rod, Byrdak or Bucholz. He throws hard, has great late movement and kills righties. Actually most of his peripherals have been real good throughout his career. He just walks too many damn people. Stop walking people!

Whats up with this Reese Havens, Ive heard about this kid a few times and how he should somehow solve our second base problems, but I still havent seen him play. Did he get into any spring games?
