Hasta La Vista, Baby!

As if going into a new season without Jeff Francoeur clogging up the lineup wasn’t improvement enough, Mets fans all over the world are absolutely rejoicing today as we bid farewell to Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo too.

This is what addition by subtraction is all about!

Usually we’d wish former players the best of luck, but in this case we’ll just say, “Adiós amigos!”

I’m really looking forward to a great season in 2011. Jose Reyes is running without pain, Carlos Beltran insists he’ll be ready for Opening Day, Chris Young and Chris Capuano are healthy and having solid outings, and how great has Frankie Rodriguez looked this spring!

I haven’t felt this excited about a new Mets season in a couple of years.

Lets Go Mets!

  • ADIOS, GOODBYE, AU REVOIR, ARRIVEDERCI,

In any language it sounds good. :-)

  • i am going to be honest, now that the season is getting closer, and that looking every day to players faces smiling, it makes me cry a little because all they want to do is win, and i quote david wright, ”when we win, the champagne will taste that much sweeter”

  • lets go amazins if your not excited and happy to watch your mets start a new season under a new regime then you have no pulse and your not a real mets fan.we gotta love our guys whether we are a 95 win team or a 75 win team.NO FAIR WEATHER FANS NEEDED HERE!! THIS IS NEW YORK

  • Shocked! I am SHOCKED! but in a good way. like when you touch your tongue to a 4 volt battery. come admit it you’ve done it. Who hasn’t. Now we can get on with the buiness of rebuilding! NIce!

  • but francouer was awesome in the clubhouse and helped the team win with grit.

  • Addition by subtraction? Maybe. But we still don’t have starting pitching that will hold up against other teams – we still have huge question marks over our bullpne and we still don’t have a second baseman. Welcome to the “New” Mets.

    • look like a pretty pool of arms for the pen this year, with even a couple getting pushed down to AAA. So that part should be good.

A 2B? they got plenty. Expect to see quite a few there this year.

  • Beltran is a notorius slow healer. Watch for his knee drama to linger well into the season.

Oh yeah, we won’t replace him either.
