Every player has a career year at some point, where he outdoes his career average performance and makes up for those years when he was under that career performance.

But considering how long it took him to have that year you sure can’t count on it repeating.

He may be close, he may be the same and hell he may even improve because he figured it out or merely finally got the opportunity.

but too many people look at a year and say hey thats what that guy can do without ever thinking about if he can keep doing it or it was just a case of everything falling into place and the stars alligning in a way they never align again!

I certainly think he can do what he did last year again, My only question is will he?
If not we have the next name that will get dragged through the sewer around here despite what everyone said about him this year and last!

I know everyone is jumping for joy that Beltran bit the bullet and gave everyone what they wanted…

He, Beltran, had a hard time when he first signed but when on the field he was the best CF ever to play for Mets, yes even better than Agee.

Injuries are a part of the game and the fact that mgmt decided to sign so many over the hill vets after Beltran signed should not be laid at his feet.

It’s not as cut and dried as your making it out to be.

We were 21-15 when Delgado joined Reyes on the DL so from the point that we were down two of our 4 most potent offensive players until Carlos went down our record was under .500 already.

21-15 vs. 14-18. From that point on we were losing by field goals and touchdowns.

Not much any one player could have done about that.

We had just lost 2/3 to the Yankees WITH HIM including a Santana start 15-0. We lost by 4 and by 3 runs to Milwaukee who had beaten us out for the Wild Card the year before when we had Carlos. We lost by 5, 3, 2 against Philly and then by 8 the next night against LA. Two nights later they beat us by 9. After taking 2/3 from Cinn we lost 3/4 to ATL by 2, 11 and 6. It’s really a leap of faith to think that one player, even Carlos could account for 20 or more extra wins a year all by himself. Maybe Babe Ruth in the deadball era but c’mon.

We were still able to do good when Beltran was healthy, but as soon as he went down, it killed our season.

And how do you know if we had Beltran healhty we wouldn’t have finished above .500?

The amount of guys running in and out of here was unreal.

His July & Aug. start in 2010 was basically Spring training.

Johan and P. Feliciano were co-MVP’s. Pagan’s 2nd half and Murphy’s last 2 months were good to see, the rest of it was just a blur.
