Cory Vaughn Shows Off His Immense Power
In case you missed it, yesterday, Mets prospect Cory Vaughn blasted a two-run homer that still hasn’t landed. The prodigious shot came in the clutch and tied the score late in the game, something Vaughn did a lot last season for the Brooklyn Cyclones.
Vaughn had a record setting campaign last season and set franchise records with 14 home runs and 56 RBI for the Brooklyn Cyclones, while leading the league in SLG. (.557) and OPS (.953).
He is a five tool talent who has a great glove and speed to go along with his immense power potential. I have a feeling this kid is going to move up the ranks fast. he has a baseball pedigree, enthusiasm, and a flair for the dramatic.

VERY nice swing.
Maybe we will have a RFer in a couple of years.
I love Cory Vaughn…I just hope the Mets don’t somehow ruin this kid.
We’ll see what happens when he goes to St. Lucie, which I’m assuming that will be his next stop. After his performance in Brooklyn I’m not sure he needs to go to low A Savannah. St Lucie will be a test of his overall hitting ability, i.e., does he change his approach b/c of larger parks, do the bigger parks affect him mentally, etc., etc. Having presumably been around ML clubhouses with his father I would assume Vaughn is pretty well grounded mentally as to what to expect. I don’t think the Florida State League will present a huge problem for him. If he hits .270, 18 HR, .440-.450 SLG% I think everyone would be happy considering that league suppresses home run totals. I’m looking for a big season from this young man.
This kid looks like the real deal. Hope we’ll see him in 2013 at the latest.
Looks like another good homegrown player that they will not be able to pay in a few years like Reyes.
How much can we get for him NOW before we are subjected to this again.
Nah…really I hope to see him in Citi in a couple of years…this kid is legit.
And outfield of him, Martinez and Duda sounds good.
Ladies and Gentlemen, your starting Right Fielder for your 2012 New York Mets….
Man they just keep passing FMart.
@ItsCoryVaughn His twitter if anyone is interested. Claims he is playing in Jupiter tomorrow
We only need enough power for the ball to land in the first row of the seats!
All the rest is show time!!! Same goes for Ike Davis and Lucas Duda.
Give us a win, not a plaque or trophy.
yes, but in some parks, that front row is a little further back than others.
And its still fun to watch.
Damn, that’s a good swing.
