Sterling Enterprises is doing everything in their power to appear destitute before Cuomo sits them across from Picard.

If the guys have any value and there is no room to play them everyday then it is better they get that everyday work in the minors so they don’t sit on the bench and rot from lack of use.

Put them together, and he is saying that Beltran will NOT be on the DL to start the season, and that they will use the designated bench guys (harris/hairston) will fill in as beltran gets spotted rest early on.

I’m assuming that is so that the prospects can be getting the reps they need playing FT, in AAA, instead of burning another season on the bench in the majors.

A different question is what will he do if Beltran is on the DL, and could be there for a while. Then going with a better prospect instead of the limp noodle from the bench should happen.

if the wilpons sell 25% AND settle with Picard, or sell control, there’s an outside shot that he’ll stay.

wright’s contract lasts longer than the wilpons will, so he’ll probably stay.

duda will probably be up at some point given how fragile our outfield seems to be, but I don’t see the need to have him up in April. Perhaps if Beltran is out for 8-10 weeks, but not otherwise.

f-mart has already been up at least 2 years, maybe 3, so keeping him in the minors makes more sense to me.
