Thanks for the kind word t agee. I was born around the same time as the Mets, so sadly I don't remember too much of the 1960's history. From everything I've read and seen, it was very obvious that Mrs. Payson loved her Mets very much. I don't think we see that much love from any owners anymore. As the baseball season wears on, I plan on writing a few entries about the history of the Mets, because I think it's been overlooked for the most part.

I went to the game that clinched the World Series for the Yanks in 2000 (we were already in) and I wore a Knicks windreaker to the game (white, blue and orange) and man did I get a million looks. Almost everyone I passed was about to say something until they saw it was the Knicks.

The Yankee fan was so afraid that the little brother had (for the moment) a leg up on them. They were all on full alert.

That's why I always laugh when a NYY fan tells me he roots for the Mets too.

     Spoiled, self entitled rich boys.

Nice article Greg. Good memories. Loved the milk cap seats. I remember cutting the sides of the milk carton as a kid and "treating" my family to games. Who could ever forget Tug jumping out of the golf cart. I'd love to see that cart again. How lucky were we to have Joan Payson as our owner. It couldn't have been just luck that we signed so many great young and talented players in the years before there was a draft. God bless her.

with you on citi field! what were they thinking missing shea so much in stead of advertisement stadium whose color schemes look like giants(outfield wall black and orange? hello where is the Blue!, tigers ?(navy blue and dark orange signs all over those are the tigers) and tribute to dodgers? (stadium outside and the rotunda)?
the lights they put on the shake shak is exactly what the stadium needs all over the place. imagine all around the stadium had a skyline city scape view to give it a city look with A METS LOGO! sheesh how hard was it to think about putting a mets logo a huge on on the stadium like seriously!!

Ownership has done a bad job on the team because even if we dont win at least we should have integrity and respect as an organization. instead constantly embarrassed over and over again.

On the Yankee fans i agree they have to be insecure or their is something that they like about the mets because they just wont stop they keep it up, if a team sucks and not in your division then why are they relevant? definitely agree to that, there is more than a yankee fan will admit.

I hope that we can Get some respect in this city something i know the 2000 world series wouldve done in this city if we wouldve won. but here looking towards the future and it seems bright. been here through the worst of times and will be here for the turn around...Lets Go Mets ForEver!

The New York Times seem to have a daily column about the lawsuit Irving Picard is leading against the Wilpons, yet I saw in only a handful of news media outlets that the group Picard is supposed to be representing is lobbying an antitrust against Picard because he hasn't been upfront and keeping info, and possibly funds, from them. Total media bias against the Mets.
