Harry C. — the Long Island Ducks nave a couple of ex-Mets on their managerial staff. Bud Harrelson is a part owner and will be in bench coach in 2011. The manager now is Kevin Baez, who played briefly for Mets at SS about 20 years ago.

They lead their league in attendance, averaging over six thousand fans per game. They really have a pretty good team.

Harry, Do you really think a GM who previously had multiple HOF candidates on his team is making the types of moves that he is out of preferance?

You could add up the cost of ALL of Alderson’s signings AND re-signings and it wouldn’t cost what 100 games of Moises Alou did.

The only downside to any of these low cost fliers is having to read your complaints about Alderson after every single one of them as if he sets the budget.

One more thing about having so many guys NOT on long term guaranteed contracts is that you’ll have a lot more of them busting their ass for Alderson than you did for Minaya regardless of the compensation.

This guy wasn’t playing in organized Japanese baseball. He was playing in an Independent league. Somewhere along the line he was released. The “awesome” stats mentioned here were for a team about as talented as the Long Island Ducks.

Isn’t there a rule in Japanese Baseball that one has to play 10 years, before being able to come here? Or is it that he is simply not good enough to make it over there, not a prospect worth protecting. Any info on the rule and why a 22 year old can be signed by MLB – Ichiro, Matsui, et al could not – would be appreciated.

this is the good kind of MiL invite. someone that could actually qualify as a prospect if they work out.

get him to the best chiropractor you can find, and a back specialist for treatment and exercise, and hope for the best.

a nice live BP arm in the minors is a very handy thing.
