since there is no telling what to expect from the Mets here are a few lines you can use if such a Met moment fits.

Howie Rose: In case you haven't noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven't, the Mets have managed to win a few here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar. (originally from Major League)
*******************************
Capuano: I haven't got an arm like you Mejia. I have to put anything on it I can find. Someday you will too. (originally from Major League)
*******************************
NY Mets: Hello. Do you know us?
NY Mets: We're a Major League Baseball team.
David Wright: But since we haven't won a World Series in over 24 years, nobody recognizes us - not even in our own home town.
Jose Reyes: That's why we carry the CitiBank credit card.
KRod: No matter how far out of first we are, it's cool. You know, it keeps us from getting shut out at our favorite hotels and restaurant-type places.
Ike Davis: So if you're looking for some Big-League clout, apply for that little silver home-run hitter.
R.A. Dickey: Look what it's done for US. People still DON'T recognize us but...
Terry Collins: We're still not contenders.
Jose Reyes: The CitiBank credit card: Don't steal home without it. (originally from Major League)
*******************************
Fred Wilpon: The fact is we lost our two best players (Feliciano, Takahashi)to free agency. We haven't won a World Series in over twenty-four years, we haven't placed higher than fourth since the start of the season. Obviously it's time for some changes. (originally from Major League)
*******************************
Johan Santana: That's all we got, one godd**n hit? (originally from Major League)
*******************************
Ed Coleman: Just a reminder, fans, comin' up is our "Die-hard Night" here at the stadium. Free admission to anyone who was actually at Opening Day this season.(originally from Major League)
*******************************
Dan Warthen: Forget about the heater Niese, give him the curve ball. (originally from Major League)
*******************************
Fernando Martinez: Don't you guys go anywhere. I plan to put on a hitting display. (originally from Major League)
*******************************
Terry Collins: Come on Wright, get in front of the damn ball! Don't give me this "olé" bulls**t! (originally from Major League)
*******************************

Try and smile go rent Major League and have a laugh for a change.

Personally.....i'm just looking for a competative 2011 season.
And when September comes around....be the team no one wants to face because we will be a bigtime spoiler.....Let's knock teams out of the race instead of laying down for teams, particularly in the NL east like we have done for the last four years.

The shame of the matter is that the team is not far from competative. You have Reyes, Wright, Pagan, Beltran, Bay and Davis in the lineup. The problem really is the starting pitching and the bullpen. They should have made some better moves in that department then hoping to catch "lightening in a bottle' a phrase the Mets front office used during the awful teams of the early 2000's.

As I wrote before, watch for the Mets to come out of the gate strong, then slowly crumble when the weight of what their missing starts to show.

Without the pitching we will not be a force. Sad but true.

Can we get something new instead of the same old tired off-season B.S. about this team such as:

Reyes will get traded by the trade deadline if we are not in contention,

Sandy is laying the groundwork for 2021 this, he's waiting for 2012 that,

Francisco Rodriguez with that $17.5 million option, will the mets let him get to 56 appearences,

It's hard to trade Oliver (friggin) Perez, Castillio this, castillio that, Carlos Beltran will be gone after this season.....will Jason Bay's headache go away...so forth and so on......
