There is more Mets news in this morning's New York Times, headline is:

"As their attendance falls, Mets try giving tickets away".

Apparently the only teams who are still selling tickets are the Yankees and the Red Sox. I'm just hoping that they have a good Spring Training in Port Saint Lucie and come back to Citi Field in good shape. Much of that will depend on Johan Santana and the other pitchers. Again,

'd like to mention David Wright who has claimed the spokesman beat on the Mets is doing a great job at it. He knows there is nothing to talk about if you are not ready to play and play well.

Let's go Mets.

Will - have you ever submitted an article for this or any other site? Do you have absolutely NO respect - Opening with first line and using the word STUPID just shows what a 12 year old you are.

The majority of what the Yankees signed compared to many other years for them is absolute garbage, all you have to do is talk to a Yankees fan to know that. Over the hill broken down players too.

No, the Mets did not light up the boards with any big name FA's, but that was not the plan for this year as stated from DAY ONE.

Everything the Mets do sucks, so why do you continue? Just makes you look stupid.

Mr. N.J.
I'm finding it hard to avoid any discussion of the troubles of the Mets when even MLB isn't doing anything about the problems of this team. Frankly Sandy Alderson and Terry Collins are doing their jobs efficiently and quietly and I am sure that they will have the team ready. I'm not so sure about anything else that involves Citi Field and the Mets and actions and reactions from the Wilpons/Katz and who ever else is involved in the chaos.

i read this post but again feel this post title is a bit misleading Annie.
The only thing i read that dealt with spring training was,

"No wonder both Derek and David Wright escaped early to the South to begin training and working on their games." and

"Soon we will be able to tune and watch these teams prepare for a new season." and

"I’m also looking forward to the broadcasters – on both teams who all do a great job for every game."

Which is disappointing since in your last post you said "I’m content to leave the M/W/K relationship to the authorities and start ‘thinking baseball’." and "what I’m going to do now is look toward Spring Training at Port St. Lucie and the team – it’s their turn to get into the spotlight and shine.'

seems you mostly discussed the mets hardships due to the madoff issue rather than as you said you was going to do talk about the team itself. You can of course write what you wish but i had to tell you that i was surprised after i read your post due to your previous comments.

Yankees have provided themselves with options in case of injury or unproductivness. Despite having Posada, Cervelli on the 25 and Montero and Romaine in AAA and AA they still went out, without costing themselves a draft pick and picked up Martin.

Compare that to us doing nothing to address Perez last year when Pinero (type B) signed with LAA for 2/16.

Yankees have stockpiled numerous arms because of a weak FA year for starting pitching which was their number 1 need but even with some good arms in A+ and AA they still wound up being at the mercy of the FA market because of failing to develop anything since Hughes (a first round over slot selection) This has cost them big time and even more so now that they addressed it on the other end and lost their draft choice (to a division rival no less)

They also will have some sort of competent AAA depth at SP, bull pen, IF and OF. Players who's future is very short but can at least step in for half a season or so if need be, not guys who's teams are gladly waving goodbye even though their making anywhere from 10-20 M a year and are just riding out their careers.
