Spring Is In The Air!

Look at that bright sunshine!

That’s newly acquired pitcher Chris Capuano, along with minor leaguers Nick Evans and Mike Nickeas taking a photo today with one of many lucky kids at Port St. Lucie. The three of them visited a local little league team, the Sand Gnats, and spread some cheer to dozens of kids.

It looks like some of the players are slowly trickling in and I bet there will be at least 25 players in camp by Monday.

You can check out some more pics by following the St. Lucie Mets on Facebook. Hat tip to MetsBlog.

  • I can’t wait!

Hey so whatever happened to that 1 day camp that Collins said he was going to have?

    Did it ever take place?

  • No it never did. Some of the players like Bay and a few others said the couldnt attend. I think Terry decided that opening the camp early was a better option then One Day camp.

  • Can’t wait for the nine days and the first game Feb 26th. This team with Murphy at 2nd and Thole cathing 1-8 will be the ones to tire the other teams pitchers. We can win with this team and Pelf,Dickey,Neise plus 2 other starters from the group. If pichers keep the score low our offense will do the rest, this will be the year. Don’t give up Mets Fans this year will surprise you and we will win the WC.

    • Murphy is NOT going to be starting at 2B. How much money would you like to bet?

      • Why do you have such a vested interest in not seeing Murph as the 2B?

And how much money do you have?

        • $100.00 – you have PayPal?

          • I only transfer money with websites that support advanced statistical analysis. Paypal, unfortunately, does not.

  • I knew Bayonne would be in soon. He hates Murphy and wants to bet because of the fact if you say he is goingto play 2nd base. We will see Bayonne in ST.You are in the minority of Mets fans who think Murphy will be the one.Its not his call but Terry and Sandy who will be the ones.If Castillo plays the fans will revolt. If Emaus gets it he cant hit outside of games he plays in Las Vegas in the Minors (The air is letting the ball go) Turner wont be considered. Maybe Bayonne will get the job.

    • I can understand not wanting to see someone play a position, for one reason or another. Took you milk money, dated your daughter without your consent, has pictures of you in a compromising position involving farm animals… Whatever the case may be. But not looking at the facts, the numbers, the other competition and coming to a conclusion simply because one wants it that way is obstinate and close-minded. As Mr. T once said, I pity da fool.

  • I predict a rolling platoon consisting of Murphy, Emaus and Castillo.

The question is going to be decided on the fielding not the batting.

Which gives castillo a chance to finish out his contract.

I predict that most likely we will see Murphy and castillo platoon when the season starts. That is unless castillo really doesn’t hit at all.

    • Castillo’s knees are shot. He can’t cover the position.

  • I’m really climbing the walls now. Someone just throw a damn baseball already.
