I saw him after he was drafted. But most importantly, despite not expecting everyone to jump on the bandwagon, I was floored when someone went ballistic when I mentioned how good I thought Reese Haves was. The insults and snide remarks deserved a payback. It’s over now.

Why do you care if some people didn’t agree with your opinion of Havens when he was drafted?

You didn’t really expect every1 on a public blog to agree with you just because you said it did you?

I just want to see what he can do at AAA while playing 2b if he can stay healthy for at least half a season. Then I will take it from there.

If Havens health holds up, he will demonstrate the best swing in the Mets infield. that includes Wright, Reyes, and certainly Davis.

He really is that good.

So to the all one of you who was touting the good field, no hit Ruben Tejada, maybe some reality is entering the picture. When I first mentioned Havens a couple of years ago as a guy with a great (not just good) swing, a plus arm at 2B, good range at 2B. the howls started.

Sound off!!!

P.S.: All bets are off if Havens’ obliques go south while his body is north at Buffalo or CitiField.

cross your fingers that he devoted all off season to a PT program focusing on core strength and flexibility. And Yoga would probably help.

if he can just stay on the field, I think he will put up a huge ST (think Ike last year), and really push for a job after a couple months in the minors, if it takes that long (largely dependant on what the guys that win the 2B job do)

I can’t say I am surprised to see them rank Havens where they did. If you recall they did an article about the top 10 sleeper hitters and Havens was #2 on that list. Here is an excerpt explaining why.

2. Reese Havens – After a studly junior year at South Carolina, Havens was slowed by a quadriceps injury in 2009. He then got a late start to 2010 because of an oblique injury, which became a problem again in June and ended his season. Given how important the core is for all physical activities, Havens’ injury is a bit of a concern. But if he can regain his health, he could quickly surface as one of the top second basemen in the big leagues. He has crazy power to go along with above-average patience. Guys with as much athleticism and power as Havens don’t come around often.
