  • Does every minor league sign have to be a headline? every team signs a bunch of minor league guys to fill rosters.

    • Its a blog dedicated to the Mets and its February.

    • Harry, this way at least u’ll know who TC is playing this ST &Z it’d not just the esult of holding OPEN TRYOUTS aka cattlecalls. No, sometimes it’s the insignificant decisions that come to pay suprising dividends, I don’t know this player from my Aunt’s cat; but I welcome him to try to help

  • Why did the Mets sign this guy and let Elmer go?

    • Maybe because he has lively pitches in his arsenal than Dessens?

“He’s been a relief pitcher his entire minor league career, acting mostly as a closer. They say he has a quick fastball that lives around 92 mph, and which moves around the zone a lot. He complements it with a nice slider and curve ball and occasional change up.”

    • Bauyonne, I believe it’s only logical to consider Dessens has more than likely reached his expiration date as a warehoused alternative/emergenvy player. I for one welcome the extinction of the “40 yr old” reclaimation project from the Mets’ roster, as I type this Dickey is the oldest rostered player under Alderson, next is Castillo & somehow I don’t have a problem considering MLB baseball a younger man’s pursuit. I believe Elmer is probably a peer of Thole’s father & that battery picture suffers the more it develops into view even if AAA is no longer an actual “development” level in today’s sport, As a warehouse for needed spare parts it cetainly behooves us to maintain an inventory less likely to be gassed come late September emergencies. While Dessens valiently contibuted as best he could, investing even a limited asset like room on the AAA shelf was an earmark of previous regimes. Bayonne, it’s time to be
