Addict, you have my sympathy as you've probably waited your entire 34 years of life to employ such a tired old punchline. While I'm certainly not a Wilpon fan, I underastand any private owner is preferable to a Corporate monolithic entity sans flesh, bone & blood such as CBS,Chicago Tribune, Time-Warner or Liberty Communications as I would gladly sign up for more years of Wilpon meddling incompetance than watch my beloved team become a footnote in an annual report to stockholders.
Look addict, All is not lost, given another 34 years perhaps ypou'll actually be able to express an original thought.

You conveniently overlooked a NY Times story of Oct. 3 or Oct. 4, 2010, in which veteran writer George Vecsey spoke of Jerry's plans to return to his adopted California roots and manage at the small Christian college we spoke about.

Why do you keep bringing up four years ago and saying the news is old? Even if it were, and it's NOT, why is it such a big deal to you? You seem like a person who has never had a happy day in his life.

Your continued references to Amtrak are silly. But you're staying within the travel industry and it's a step up from pushing shopping carts on Kennedy Boulevard in Bayonne. LOL

Here's another point of interest...
BOTH NY TEAMS ARE FORCED TO RESORT TO TAKING A FLIER ON VETRERAN PITCHERS ATTEMPTING COMEBACKS THIS SEASON

NEW YORK METS NEW YORK YANKEES

JASON ISRINGHAUSEN(39) FREDDY GARCIA(35)
CHRIS CAPUANO(33) BARTOLO COLON(38)
CHRIS YOUNG(32)
BOOF BONSER(30)

AS THIS IS THE POST-STEROID ERA THAT MOST LIKELY DOES NOT FAVOR THE CONTINUING SAGAS OF ELDER STATESMEN PITCHERS LIKE PETTITTE & CLEMENS, IREMAINS TO BE SEEN WHICH GM'S BETS WILL BE PAY OFF BETTER.

ONE THING IS CERTAIN, SHOULD ALDERSON'S BETS COME THROUGH, THE PREDICTIONS FOR HIS TEAM WILL BE ALTERED IN A VERY POSITIVE MANNER, NOT SO MUCH, IN MY OPINION, SHOULD CASHMAN'S FLIERS LAND. ALDERSON , IF NOTHING ELSE, IS MUCH MORE EXPERIENCED IN THESE MATTERS THAN CASH.

You're the one pushing it, pal. What info? Put the AD's name out here.
If I can't find anything i'm sure somebody else here will. I'm not laughing but you always seem to be laughing, usually laughter is a way of masquerading angst.

He's on MLB Network tonight, nobody asked him about it. Or like Is I said, use keywords "William, jessup, university....use the recent search tools. Maybe you'll find it?

Why don't you call SNY or Adam Rubin and let them know. This would be interesting info but you seem to be the only one in the know. Why?

So what's the latest for 2011 instead of 4 years ago?

A lot of people here just don't get it. When you draft poorly, frequently give away your draft choices and do a poor job in the IFA market your only left with a couple of alternatives.

Guys at the high end looking for 7 year contracts, guys at the mid level looking for 3-4 year deals, guys looking to hang on for one more year, guys looking to resurrect their careers, or rule 5's and non tenders.

A couple from the top shelf is nice, a few more of the plan B type works but by this time you've got 80M accounted for and 19 more roster spots to fill. The scrap heap might provide a guy or two and the rehab market could produce a find, maybe one each of the non tenders and rule 5's. Let's see how many left? 14 to go, Hmmnn. Wouldn't it be nice to have a well stocked farm to pick through to fill the roster with some guys who's best years are ahead of them, not the other way around. Oh well back to the scrap heap.

If only I had tilled the soil and planted the seeds 1,2,3 and 4 years ago, watered them once in a while and spent a little time, attention and money on them I could be filling the roster with all sorts of talented players capable of opening a can of WHOOP ASS 162 times a year and still have some left over for October.

I wonder what Pulsupher and Wilson are up to these days and you know while I'm thinking about it I'll bet that Baerga might be able to fill a need here too. Let's "add him to the mix" because the owners don't have the common sense or balls to demand that we provide our own players. They don't like to get their hands dirty.

It took four years before poeple started questioning Omar. What did he ever win other than the off season. Big 'effin deal, winning the off season. Wow.

I want a team put together that can last a while, not so many transient parts every year. Not so many guys that do nothing except collect paychecks and clog up the roster.

Guys that are in their early years, playing their best ball, not guys who are hanging on for their last contract to run it's course before they head off to a life of luxury.

Very little can be worse than the last two years.

the Mets received 30 million dollars in revenue sharing money this off season. Where did that money go? The Felciano signed a 2 year contract with the Yankess for not that much more than he had been making with the Mets. Why couldn't the Mets use some of that 30 million they received to sign Felicano? Or even lock Reyes up for the next few years using that money?? Where did tht 30 million go to Mr. Wilpon?

It's really very hard to even establish a value for him. His best years were in 2006 2007 and 2008. He looked reasonably good last year but he wasn't the same player he was back then.

What is his value? Very few teams have a SS that can fully defend the position AND hit let alone run the bases the way he does. I don't care for his approach at lead off lately but I wouldn't want to risk pissing him off by moving him.

I think his value is Carl Crawford like. He plays good defense at the premier defensive position and does everything else similar to Crawford WHEN he's up and running.

There are an unbelivable number of dinosaurs playing SS right now. Jeter, Scutero, Uribe, Rentaria, Miguel Tejada as well as quite a few guys who really aren't very good offensively and very few close to ML ready TWO dimensional SS in the minors.

I think demand for him will be enormous. I wouldn't low ball him, he comes off a very friendly contract, even his signing bonus was lame (15K) I'd offer him right now 5/90 no trade, no arb at the end of the deal and whatever other little things he wanted.

2011- no Met October baseball
2012- no Reyes. No Beltran. Castillo off the books. Perez off the books.
The Wilpons look to maximize their finances. No new signings.
No October baseball.
2013- New Met PR Campaign gets underway! "Lets Get Excited!" of As the Wilpons continue their financial reconstruction by hyping players from within the system in lieu obtaining talent via free agency. If you thought Murphy and Thole were over hyped wait until you see the full court press put on for Harvey, Flores, etc...
of course Met fans buy into Alderson's plan" and post thinks like "Hey Man patience! Sandy has a plan!"
2014- Young Met team. NO October baseball. Wilpons continue their financial recovery.
2015- Fans increasingly beginning to question Alderson. Only took them 4 years! Wilpon's have recovered enough to allow Alderson to sign 1 high profile for the purpose of quieting the fan base. Of course Met fans again accept Alderson at his word as he talks of great things ahead. Of course no October baseball again this year.

Of course Met fans again accept Alderson at his word as he talks of great things ahead. Of course no October baseball again this year.

Lifelong, You could be right. Most of Omar's very young, raw but high ceiling guys are in the lowest of the rookie leagues. There very little help even close to ML ready. Newenhaus seems like a 4th OFer at best. Flores will be asked to learn a new position once he gets up here. Mejia, Tejada and Havens all need at least a good solid year bare minimum. Remember with only 6 years of team control you want to get your prospects best 6 years, not risk waving goodbye when they turn 27 like we may be doing with Jose.

It really is a sin that with so much money paid out to so many under performing and brittle former shells of them selves, that we might not have the cash to keep one of our own. That really makes me sick. And you know it's not just our decision either. Who knows maybe he wants a change too and if he wants to win.....

Even with the new stadium it really seems like we are just back to 2003 again.

the bottom line for me is that the Wilpons care more about retaining majority ownership than they do about putting a quality team on the field. If ownership of a large market team can not afford to pay market value for players they should not have majority ownership. Developing players will take 3-5 yrs. I continue to state that the Mets will not contend for the next 3-5yrs or until new ownership takes over majority control.

Lifelong, If any of the media or especially the fans had ever held the Wilpon's accountable we wouldn't be in this mess today.

They kept foisting the Coleman's, Alomar's, Bernytz's, Vaugn's, Wagner's, Bonilla's, Alou's, El-Duque's, and Castillo's on us while insisting with a straight face that they were trying to win all the while they were not even signing truly talented players who would be up here in four years. IN THEIR PRIME. Giving us the best years of their careers.

We could have had Olerud, Matt Williams and Rafeal Palmero back to back to back for ten years for one tenth of the cost of Coleman, Bonilla and Murray.

They screwed us out of many, many post seasons and no one ever said s**t and now we are where we are because of their guaranteed to fail business model that they have employed to crash three seperate times during their ownership.

Whether they have finally learned a lesson or are forced to sell at least we're not being served the 3 card monte routine this year.

It is what it is, there's no viable quick fix, they've been lying behind the scenes for years now and if the majority of fans hadn't been duped all these years they would have seen it coming.

I don't care. Its how I feel now as I sit here at my desk avoiding work.
When the moment present itself I want media personalities to challenge what Wilpon's and Alderson say instead of taking their word at face value. When Alderson makes a comment sch as, "I am under no financial restraints." Then I would think the next question would be something like, "So, uh you just thought Felicaano's ability and past performance didn't warrant arbitration?"
Or when Alderson makes a comment like, "I will not be talking contract with Reyes until after the 2011 season is completed." "I need to get to know the man, Jose Reyes."
Not one follow up question. Challenge the guy!

We ran out of players. Anyone notice who was getting the playing time last year? 8 or 10 guys who shouldn't have even been playing in the Major Leagues, that's who. He wanted the pick. Unlike Omar he realizes you cannot have 10 guys making 10-20 M each, 10 guys making minimum and back them with 10 guys who's team has cut them. That's not a team, that's a freak show.
