I just started reading finally the biography on Roberto Clemente. It’s been on my shelf for about four years now. I didn’t see this in your list Xtreem but Peter Golenbock’s Bums is BETTER than Boys of Summer and he also does a similar history on the Mets called Amazin’.

Annie, Darling’s book is on my list, but there are so many books I have still unread, I can’t bring myself to buy another one. My hope is, by the time I’m relatively caught up, I’ll see that book in clearance bin to save a little cash at the same time. Win-win for me.

I read “Bats” for a 5th grade book report.

I prefer non-fiction myself, but I’m a sucker for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan books, as well as Timothy Zahn’s “Star Wars” stuff.

For non-fiction, I like mostly history and crime, because the two seem so related. I just finished “No Angel”, Jay Dobyns’ memoirs about his infiltration of the Hell’s Angels. I also recommend “Art of Deception” by Kevin Mitnick. It’s about social engineering and how hackers steal information. Mitnick is the guy who hacked Sun Microsystems, so its’ got some pretty good insights.

“The old ball game” is easily one of the best baseball, if not sports books ever written. Got that as a present when it first came out and I finished that book in about 28 hours. Could not put it down.
Another one to consider is “American Icon” which deals with the history of Roger Clemens from 1998 to present day. The amount of detail that book went into to cover his life and the whole steroid era is extraordinary.
