I also need to pointout to everyone including author JoeD that he can’t be correct in both his assertions that additional partners only get NYM not SNY,Sterling,Cyclones,etc as well as getting legal liability in the Maidoff mess. since the NY Metropolitan Baseball franchise was NOT a participant in Maidoff investments and Fred Wilpon,Jeff Wilpon,Saul Katz individually as well as Sterling Equities & therefore the NYMets, as an entity, is not liable in any legal way.

I think we need to erect statues one fred and one jeff to honor such wonderful people. I think we should pass the plate around for them. Everyone takes advantage of them. And now its all our fault parking is $19 …post season $25.

Wilpons once owned a minority interest when they originally bought the team. Doubleday had Majority ownership.

But with a Minority interest the Minority gets first option to buy controlling interest should the Majority holder decide to sell.

So if anyone entertains the thought of eventually owning the team, the first step would be to buy minority interests and wait until the partner wants to sell.

Thats why you would go buy a minority interest. Get your foot in the door and get first crack at the team when it does go up for sale!

Someone is going to pay $200 million to have no control in their investment. What’s the point in the Wilpons continuing to own this team? Just sell the entire team! Since the Wilpons have become majority owners in 2002 the Mets have made the playoffs just 1 time and have contributed into making the Mets into a laughing stock. Just sell the team, you’ll walk away with around a billion dollars, and if you love the Mets the way you say you do, let someone else attempt to turn this franchise around.
