Francisco Rodriguez, The Mets, And Their 41-Man Roster
It seems that the Mets are still in play for starting pitcher Chris Young and that he is very close to making a decision as posted yesterday by my colleague Brandon Butler. Chris Young would be a nice addition for the Mets and if we do get him he instantly becomes the biggest acquisition of the Mets offseason and probably the first player that fans didn’t have to look up on google to figure out who he was. [...]

Citi Field Never Looked So Good
I got treated to a great link in our chat room yesterday that pretty much blew me away when it opened up. Check out this amazing rendition of Citi Field by the critically acclaimed New York artist, Borbay. This guy is a genius. You need to visit Borbay’s site where he takes you through a complete step by step process starting with just a simple sketch and photographing each step along the way until he finishes this [...]

Kranepool Only Watches Mets When They Have A Good Product
Beloved Met (I actually call him Mr. Met), Ed Kranepool spoke about the Mets yesterday in an article I came across by Laurel Pfahler of TC Palm, she discusses expectations for the Mets with Ed Charles, Ed Kranepool and other former Mets who are at Mets Fantasy Camp down at Port St. Lucie. They talk about how prior to the 1969 season, there were never any expectations for the team because they never had a winning [...]

Making Sense of the Tankersley Signing
The signing of LHP Taylor Tankersley on the surface appears to be a mediocre move, but an in-depth look reveals a method to the madness. Tankersley has been with the Marlins for his entire major league career so he knows the division. It is not a huge factor but is a slight benefit knowing the premiere bats in the NL East in advance. Not only does Tankersley know the division, but he has been a reliable arm versus the NL East. Tankersley has a career [...]

Mets Press Release On Taylor Tankersley
METS SIGN LHP TAYLOR TANKERSLEY The New York Mets today announced that they have signed lefthanded pitcher Taylor Tankersley, who appeared in 27 games last year with the Florida Marlins, to a minor league contract and invited him to major league Spring Training. Tankersley, 27, didnt have a decision and earned six holds and a 7.50 ERA (10 earned runs/12.0 innings) with the Marlins last year. The 6-0, 215-pounder held lefthanded hitters to a .200 [...]

There Is No Winning…
As I have been reading through a lot of postings and responses to signings, lack of signings – it is the same general theme that is occurring. The Mets fanbase being up in a stir over the lack of big signings. When the Mets signed Jason Bay for 66 Million dollars, it didn’t seem to be enough. When they signed K-Rod for 37 million with that sneaky vesting option, it didn’t seem to be enough. [...]

Bonilla’s Millions
When the New Year kicked in, talk of the Mets turned from looking towards the future to taking a not-so-fond trip down Memory Lane regarding one of the most disliked and controversial characters in Mets history. Nope, I’m not talking about Richie Hebner. I’m talking about Bobby Bonilla. While there is much to be said about the Mets ownership lack of baseball acumen, and even in recent years being linked to a scandalous international Ponzi [...]

Kris Benson Retires; Says “Im Done”
According to Doug Miller of MLB.com, former Mets starter Kris Benson has apparently retired, saying “I’m done”. Benson pitched for the Mets in 2004 and 2005 after he was acquired with Jeff Keppinger in exchange for Ty Wigginton and Jose Bautista. (yes, that Jose Bautista!) Benson went 14-12 as a Met with a 4.23 ERA in 242 1/3 innings. He was traded to the Orioles prior to the 2006 season in exchange for Jorge Julio and John Maine. As [...]
