I don’t thin Bobby would have worked for Omar. Bobby wants some control over the makeup of the roster, a lot like Bellichek in the NFL. He wants guys who can do things he want to have at his disposal.

The roster’s kind of disjointed and top heavy in salary. I don’t know that Bobby would have thought he could work within the framework.

I do think that Bobby could have helped immeasurably in assembling a more coherent roster and helped out in avoiding some of the mistakes we made.

Omar AND Bobby from the beginning might have been a pretty good combination.

I’m betting that he would have brought on Bobby Valentine as manager. In my opinion we needed a change in the way we played the game more than a GM change. I don’t know what moves he would have made but I’m pretty sure he would not be making Sandy’s move w/one exception – I can imagine Omar signing Capuano but that’s just a pure guess on my part.

I’ll venture a guess. Melky would have been high on his list. Probably mid November, well before the non tenders, rule 5′s came out.

Carlos Lee would have been 2nd because of his power, slugging and proven RBI production.

I really don’t care about Phillips’ tenure, because its 2011. Bayonne, you said we need a GM who makes trades like Phillips did. I can prove to you that he made just as many poor trades as he made good ones and you also are declaring a need for a GM like Phillips after 4 months of Alderson.

The fact you say Phillips would’ve done more in 4 months than Alderson has is simply NOT true.

The proof? Phillips did LESS from October – Feb in his time as GM than Alderson has. That’s a fact. You can’t say otherwise because you don’t know how any of Alderson’s moves will work out and the best thing Phillips did in the same time period was acquire Dennis Cook.

Phillips also worked within the Mets front office and had knowledge of every single player within their entire system. Alderson has not.

You credit Phillips because you look BACK on his moves and you appreciate them yet you criticize Alderson for 4 months of work

Sure he would have but you don’t know if his impact would be good or bad so again what’s the point?

You might as well add Cashen’s name to the mix or M. Donald Grant it would get the same result. One big what if scenario that will in the end never prove nothing more than thast you have a low opinion of Alderson.
