Drew, You blame the Mets for rushing Milledge to the majors yet instead of having Hairston or Harris on the bench you would rather rush Duda or other valued prospects to the majors. These guys, signed to one year deal would hold those positions while people like Duda blossom to their full potential rather than squander it like the Mets did with Milledge.

They are players who have no future with the Mets other than to fill the bench instead of using our valued prospects before they are ready. Not only that, but they can have a positive influence on the young players like Ike Davis, Thole, Emaus etc.

I've followed Lastings over the years with all the teams he's played for. To me, the juice isn't worth the squeeze on many levels -- hitting, fielding, clubhouse. Other teams have largely discounted him now.

Drew, if Milledge couldn't fut it with 2 last place perenials, Gnats & Bucs, why are u anticipating improvement whem he's just as likely to add more instability to the clubhouse while despite considerable age differences, both Hairston & Harris make more game saving impressive defensive plays in their sleep tham Milledge has in his lifetime of semiconcous behavior. We already have the BRICKS(Reyes, Wright, Beltran, Bay) what we've always needed was better mortar Harris & Hairston represent better cement between those bricks.

They not only constitute a cupgrade; but also ensure the quality of any emergency "patches" will be improved over earlier seasons as Duda,Pridie,Tejada get more curation time honing valuable skills they've been lacking as emergency patches too early in their developmernt
Drew ubfortunastely 'Sting represents more propulgation of the problems than solution at whatever price

Making Duda a bench player would kill any progress he could make. They are better off leaving him to play everyday in Buffalo, then promoting him if there is an injury or Beltran gets traded.

I am intruiged at bringing back Milledge and agree he got a bum rap (no pun intended) from Randolph, but he doesn't seem to have matured too much and his fielding is suspect to say the least.

Sorry, but you ned to take off those rose colored glases. You give Harris and Hairston way too much credit when the truth is they absolutely suck. I would rather have Lastings Milledge back for the same low price and take a chance that at 25 years old he's matured and ready to take the next step. The Mets rushed him at 21 and then blamed him for acting like a kid and not being major league ready. Willie Harris? Did you look at his numbers last year? I would also rather go with Lucas Duda if I wanted power of the bench, not Hairston.
