I think you made a great point about Mookie Wilson being able to help Reyes at 1B. I'm a record on this site saying many times, that I don't want Reyes gone either but he had to improve his gamesmanship. Even before he was injured and during the Mets pennant race days, especially in 2008, he has a problem stealing bases in big spots. If he can't do it then the mgr has to give him the sign, maybe Mookie can help in that department.
Also maybe Mookie can help him w/his baserunning because Reyes isn't too smart there either. Reyes also has to think more when playing defense. Reyes has one of the best arms in the game at SS and has the quickest hand to glove transfers that I've seen but again, his brain sometimes is somewhere else and frankly you cannot have that if you want to have a winning team.

Those are the areas in Reyes game I would address, he also has to a better clutch hitter, he was a main ingredient in the 2007 collapse, don't forget that. I don't want to hear well he helped get us there, true, but you have to be able to close the deal and the Mets have a couple of major athletic talents but they can't close the deal. Other than that he's one of the most dynamic offensive talents in the game, but it takes more than that if you want to be a winning ballplayer.

Thank You! someone who has lead the league in AB's(2x) SB's(3x) Triples(3X) and hits(1x) and has recorded 331 SBs and 1119 hits and hasn't even hit his prime.

Stats dont lie... I would even go as far to say the way Jeter has declined that Reyes is even better than him.

lol, what? apparently you didn't watch much of the Mets from '05-'08. Love how you say "many shortstops out there" but don't even mention one. many? really? name one that isn't named Jeter or Ramirez.

average major leaguer? yes plenty of players steal 70 bases and score 120 runs.

get out of here with this garbage.

Im Sorry but Jose Reyes is a superstar who has hit the injury bug the past two seasons. He had an injury riddled 2009 and 2010 but when healthy, as seen from 2005-2008 is in fact a superstar and one of the best shortstops in the game.

He in my eyes on the same level as Grady Seizmore, someone who from 2005-2008 has had MVP caliber stuff and hit the Injury bug in recent years. They are both getting to the end of their contracts and their futures hang in the balance.

What shortstop has had 50+ stolen bases and 190 hits from 2005-2008... Reyes did that, the very definition of consistancy. I would say Reyes because of injuries is no longer "the" best in baseball but I would rank him below Hanley Ramirez and Troy Tulowitzki but above Jimmy Rollins, Elvis Andrus and Rafael Furcal. I would rank Reyes about the same as Derek Jeter because he is declining.

This is how I would rank baseball shortstops: Troy Tulowitzki, Hanley Ramirez, Jose Reyes/Derek Jeter, Elvis Andrus, Rafael Furcal, Jimmy Rollins, Jason Bartlett etc.

With Mookie Wilson as the 1st base coach in 2011, Reyes will no doubt regain his 50-60 SBs status.

Sounds like a New yorker overrating the players again!! Reyes is a superstar? What has he done, there are many shortstops out there that have had equal or better years than Reyes!! Until he does something and does it consistently he does not rate such status and trades that New yorkers propose. Reyes so far is an average major leaguer with potential, that potential has not been realized or deserved.

It is not an atrocity. It is a pitcher's ballpark. If you want to hit a homerun you have to pull the ball, It seperates the mice from the men at Citi Field by making them to adjust.

Not to mention, Citi Field is one of the most beautiful ballparks in baseball so Francoeur needs to be a bit more selective with his wording.

He has played in pitchers ballparks, with the exception of the Rangers, all of his career. Turner Field, Citi Field and now he is going to Kauffman Stadium, three pretty spacious ballparks. Yet he was able to hit home runs in home runs in Turner Field and in Citi Field in 2009 and the first month of 2010.
He couldn't hit anything, not a single or anything most of the year in Flushing, it is not like it is impossible to even get a hit at Citi Field, thats his own fault.

Jeff Francoeur Played to his career stats here in NY. He's NOW a decent platoon guy versus lefty pitchers. He could have been more, I suppose, but 3000 ab's pretty much define a player---even a relatively young one.

I don't get your own personal offense to the fact that he felt impacted by Citi Field....the place IS an atrocity!
