Ok…where the heck did I say that? Fuentes would serve as a stable bridge to K-Rod which the Mets DO NOT have. Parnell is shaky to be the main setup man right now. Byrdak is a LOOGY who put up good numbers against lefties and kept them under .200 3 of the past 4 years. O’Connor & De La Torre did well in AAA Buffalo and it’s amazing that little is talked about them, especially De La Torre, who has been in the system since ’06.

the contract will be for more than that. THe tricky part will be how much is guaranteed. Anything over a million coming off major arm problems and only 20ip last year is lucky for him.

We may yet get chris young. But we should all be mindful that young (20ip), Capuano (66) and Buchholz (12ip) in 2010, combined, did not generate 1 SP’s production totals for a full season. So, maybe the 3 of these guys comp out to 1 full starter in 2011–not that’s it done that way, but you get my drift.

If Murphy can stay healthy, the 2B job is his — that is until Reese Havens comes along this year or next, assuming Reese stays healthy. If both these guys stay healthy, it’s a problem any manager would like to have.

Chris Young is not signing for “just over a million”.

He wants $3-4M. If the Mets had $4M to work with this winter (which seems to be the case, given Sandy’s comments), they’re just about tapped out after signing Paulino, Capuano, and Buchholz.

If castillo doesn’t win the job, gotta figure he gets cut. And if that happens, at least 2 of the other guys (emaus, Murphy, Turner) make the roster.

The real question would be can one of them flat out win the FT job, or will it end up being more of a platoon?

Where do you get Emaus at 2nd base. This kid never played in the majors and has no record except winter ball. Murphy will win the everyday 2nd baseman. Emaus may be on the bench. Murphy’s record in winter balll was better and we know that he can hit in the majors. He had 12 HRs in 2009 and will have 20+ in 2011.
