Resign Reyes and how much money is left to sign another big bat?

Winning the WS this season will not mean the worst is over it will just be a postponing moment before we are right back to where we are now.

140 Mil Salary and hardly even a 50/50 chance to make the Playoffs.

The only thing that will have changed is the fans won’t be able to use the 25 year excuse when they call for the manager or GM to be fired!

The problem this team has is it is not getting enough bang for it’s buck. 140 Mil payroll and they play on a par with the Marlins!

We have 7 of 8 everyday positions filled. more than half of those guys makes up the majority of that 140 Mil payroll.

If we wanted to buy another bat we would have no place to play him unless he played 2B!

Thats not a very good situation to be in if your a GM.
Beltran may very likely go on that point I agree with you.
But all that means is that you lost your BEST bat and will be hard pressed to find a better one to replace him and get more out of the position.

If you want an idea of how hard it will be to replace him just think about who you would have replaced him with this year?
Look at the FA market and tell me who you could pay that would give you the same batting threat?

Beltran with all of his injuries and lack of fire is still one of the best OF’s you can get in the game.

And without a bat as potent as his we have seen last year how good this team is!
It got an entire FO fired!

Reyes yes they will try to resign if he performs this year (and I will assume he does if they win the WS!) But Beltran will be sent packing regardless.

David Wright is one of the good things about the franchise. The only reason you would want him gone is you are typing in your Jimmy Rollins jersey.

I am not a oncologist but I have a friend who is a leading scientist on lymphatic cancer and he believes that once you have a cancer , you have to change everything you’ve been doing since whatever you’ve been doing caused the cancer.
