Has it happened Bayonne? sure. But Randy Johnson also has killed a passing bird with a 100 mph fastball. 20-21 year olds winning jobs because of 50 at bats in March is rarer than you expressing rational thoughts on MMO. When 20-21 year olds make the majors, it’s because they owned the minor leagues, not because of March. That is not news. or at least I didn’t think it was. A lot of things are news to you though.

Gee doesn’t have that control yet, nor the movement or even a second pitch. If Gee realizes his potential, or even out-performs it a little, he could be knows as a poor man’s Greg Maddux. Which is a great compliment.

Of course Maddux had already logged 60 wins in the majors by the time he was Gee’s age. But in terms of style of pitching which i’m sure you’re referring to they could be similar. It seems in the small sample size Gee gave us, that he likes to mix up his pitches a lot more than Maddux used to. Maddux was predominantly a two-seemer/change-up kind of pitcher. Seems like Gee didn’t trust his fastball as much in his cup of coffee as Maddux used to. That could change. But Gee mixes in a slice slider and change-up pretty well and it seems like he likes them equally. I see Gee as comparable to say an Ian Kennedy. Don’t know if anyone agrees. Hopefully Gee has the same type of success Ian did last year.

There’s a lot to be excited about with Gee. He’s durable and I for one love his K/BB ratio. 13 wins and 4 K’s per walk in triple A last year. The dude knows how to pitch.
