RHP Rodrigo Lopez Chooses Braves
Updated Post 9:00 PM I hate to break this to you, but sadly right-hander Rodrigo Lopez has agreed to sign a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves. <sniff> <sniff> By the way, reliever Elmer Dessens told the Mets he wanted to come back on a minor league deal. They told him to take hike and that they were moving in another direction. In parts of two seasons with the Mets, Dessens went 4-2 with a 2.71 [...]

Dickey compiled a 11-9 record in 2010 and finished seventh in the National League with a 2.84 ERA. Doug’s Dugout: Hot Flashes and Frozen Treats
In Doug’s Dugout today we discuss, The Wilpons, Jose’ Reyes moving cross-town, and other frozen thoughts: The only truth gleaned from the news that the Wilpons are seeking a partner to buy 25% of the Mets is that they may have lied to Mets fans. Since the Bernie Madoff scandal broke, and their names attached, they claimed their losses would have nothing to do with the day to day operation of the team. That turned out [...]

Strawberry Fields Questions On Alderson, Collins, Ike and Beltran
Former Mets rightfielder Darryl Strawberry, was a guest on the “Boomer and Carton Show” on WFAN this morning and weighed in on many Mets topics. here is a short take on some of what was said. On Wilpon Financial Problems Its not a joking matter (Carton was cracking up when he brought it up.), this isn’t something to laugh about. I’m not gonna comment on that. Fred is a good man and has always been kind [...]

Sherman’s Offseason Report Card
Joel Sherman if the NY Post ranked each MLB team based on who he thought had the most successful offseason. He listed the Blue Jays as his best team and rounds out his top five with the Red Sox, Phillies, A’s and Rays. In the bottom he ranked the Angels as the worst which was kind of odd to me. 30. ANGELS This was a setback not only of player personnel, but perception. Owner Arte [...]

That’s Why They Called Him Terrific
Elena Gustines of the NY Times passes along the following details of an impromptu sing-along conducted last night by our own Tom Seaver. Mets fans looking for a reason, any reason, to smile these days might consider this: After a charity affair at a Manhattan restaurant Thursday night, Mets Hall of Famer Tom Seaver, having signed countless autographs during the event, encountered still more autograph-seekers outside as he prepared to head back to his hotel. [...]

Has David Wright Become Underrated?
The franchise of the Mets, David Wright has become somewhat underrated in the baseball world. Ever since his less than dazzling 2009 campaign, Wright has not been held in the same high regard as he once was. Granted he has not been as good as 2007 and 2008, Wright is due a little more credit than he has gotten. First of all, Wright is in the biggest pitchers ballpark in all of baseball. I can recall [...]

Potential Mets Buyers Staring To Emerge
It looks like we’re in for another bizarre season where much of the Mets talk will be centered on off the field issues rather than how well or how poorly the team is doing on the field. The news that the Wilpon family now wants to sell a minority stake in the Mets will take center stage as suitors begin to line up and take aim at an opportunity to become part owners of the [...]

Can K-Rod Keep It Under 55?
Ian Begley of ESPN New York had an injury update on Francisco Rodriguez before the weekend and it sounds like the thumb is healed and K-Rod is ready to move on. Sandy Alderson said on Thursday night that he expects Francisco Rodriguez to report to spring training 100 percent healthy. K-Rod had surgery in mid-August to repair a torn right thumb ligament. He made a handful of appearances out of the bullpen of his Venezuelan winter-league [...]
