Can The Mets Do A Lot With A Little?
We’ve all heard the reports that say the Mets only have $5 million to spend this offseason. I don;t know who said it or their source, but it does make sense since the team has over $130 million committed to its current club. Regardless of the actual figure, there’s no doubt that the Mets are cash-strapped. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I wouldn’t mind seeing the Mets go through a major [...]

Russell Martin To Mets Rumors Much Ado About Nothing
With an anxious fan base craving any kind of moves from the Mets, and a bevy of journalists and writers willing to give them some hope, even if nobody really believes anything is going to happen, the rumors keep pouring in. The More Sandy Alderson goes in front of a camera and says don’t expect much if anything, the more rumors tying the Mets to several key players emerge. And with hundreds of dedicated bloggers all too [...]

Mets Have Some Interesting Stories To Follow In 2011
As we know the Mets don’t have much money to spend this off season. Whether it’s only five million dollars or a little more Alderson is allowed to spend there will not be any top free agent signings this year. No Cliff Lee or Carl Crawford next season. With signing 2nd or possibly 3rd tier free agents it might not be fun watching the Mets every day next year. There will be plenty of stories [...]

In Alderson We Trust?
Remember 1986? Wasn’t it great? We had Gary and Keith, Doc and Darryl, Lenny and Wally, Mookie and Frank. Frank???? Frank who? Remember the miracle of 1969? What an amazin’ year? Tom and Jerry, Cleon and Agee, Swoboda and Shamsky, Buddy and Johnny. Johnny??? Who the hell was Johnny? The Frank I’m referring to was Mets GM Frank Cashen. The Johnny from 69 was GM Johnny Murphy. Great baseball memories, the common history that we [...]

Update 12/8/10: According to Adam Rubin, despite what Kevin Burkhardt said, a team source told him that the Mets are not considering Moises Alou for the 1B coaching position. I guess i was partially on the money with a guess. According to Kevin Burkhardt of SNY, the Mets are interested in having Moises Alou as a [...]

Mets Winter Meetings Update: Guarantees, Wheeler, Van Slyke, Hairston Jr.
Mets Are Wheeling and Dealing? According to Steve Phillips in a post to AOL Fanhouse, free agent reliever Dan Wheeler is drawing interest from several teams including the Diamondbacks, Cubs, Red Sox and the Mets. Wheeler is an 11-year veteran who had been with Tampa Bay since being traded by Houston during the 2007 season. Wheeler was a consistent cog in the Rays bullpen the last three seasons, posting a WHIP under 1.000 in 2008 and [...]

Heyman: Mets Are Like Scavengers, Francesa: Citi Field Will Be A Ghost Town
Just heard some scathing remarks from Jon Heyman who was a guest of Mike Francesa this afternoon on WFAN, Francesa said he thinks “Alderson is getting a free pass for essentially doing nothing” and that if his plan is to show up on Opening Day with basically the same team as last season minus Johan Santana, “Citi Field will become a ghost town”. “As it stands now”, he said, “they are losing season ticket holders [...]
