Mets Looking at Moises Alou for Coaching Staff Position
Update 12/9/10: According to Matthew Cerrone of MetsBlog, Moises Alou declined the Mets offer to join their coaching staff.
Update 12/8/10: According to Adam Rubin, despite what Kevin Burkhardt said, a team source told him that the Mets are not considering Moises Alou for the 1B coaching position. I guess i was partially on the money with a guess.
According to Kevin Burkhardt of SNY, the Mets are interested in having Moises Alou as a member of the coaching staff.
Moises Alou is currently the general manager of the of Los Leones del Escogido, which is in the Dominican Winter League.
If the Mets do indeed ask him to join the coaching staff, I would not be surprised if its something more along the lines of becoming the hitting coach, or even the Mets bench coach.
In 102 games with the Mets from 2007-2008, Alou hit .342 with 13 home runs and 58 RBI in 357 at bats over those two years.
It would be a good pick-up, but i see Moises Alou helping out more as a hitting coach.
