Mets Interested in Freddy Garcia; Ask for Medical Records
According to SI.com’s Jon Heyman, the Mets are interested in Freddy Garcia, and have asked for his medical records.
The Mets signed Garcia in 2009 on a minor league deal, but was not selected to the opening day roster and was released.
I managed to take a look at Freddy Garcia’s stats, which actually were a surprise to me. Garcia went 12-6 with the White Sox, but had a mediocre ERA at 4.64.
As far as signing Freddy Garcia goes, he did show that he can pitch a full-season without any injury setbacks or recurrences whatsoever.
It’s going to be a matter of whether or not the Mets can afford him, or if they really like Jeff Francis or Chris Young better.
