The Latest On Mets Search For New GM
The Mets will be interviewing White Sox assistant GM Rick Hahn this afternoon, with both Jeff Wilpon and interim GM John Ricco expected to be present.
Hahn, is considered by many to be one of the highest rated GM candidates available, and was ranked as the best GM prospect in baseball by Baseball America before the 2010 season.
He is said to possess great communication and negotiation skills and combines both scouting and sabermetrics in evaluating players.
Yesterday, Jeff Wilpon and John Ricco interviewed Red Sox assistant GM Allard Baird, who served as the GM of the Kansas City Royals from 2000-2006. A club official called the day “productive”.
Still on deck to be interviewed this week are Sandy Alderson, Josh Byrnes and Dodgers assistant GM Logan White who was just added yesterday.
There is some question as to whether the Mets are looking at Logan White as either a GM or a possible scouting director who will work with the team’s next GM.
As reported last week, Terry Ryan, Pat Gillick and Gerry Hunsicker have all declined to be considered for the job saying they were not interested.
